The Space Shuttle Challenge

Just try to make the best Space Shuttle Replica ever existed, and you will win! (Only Stock Parts)

-You have to make a seperate launch vehicle and an orbiter to get your first 50 points.

-external tank + boosters (+20)

-only 2 boosters (+15)

-only solid fueled boosters (+10)

-no engines at the external tank (+15)

-3 main engines at the orbiter fueled by the external tank (+10)

-2 OMS engines at the orbiter to do the Orbit Insertion (+15)

-the orbiter has a big payload bay (+15)

-the payload bay is resealable (+5)

-docking port inside payload bay (+5)

-at least 3 kerbal-crew (+10)

-at least 7-kerbal-crew (+15)

-orbiter has delta-wings (+20)

-orbiter has landing gear (+15)

-orbiter lands either at KSC or Island Airport (+5)

You can achieve 215 points.

so if i'd were to make it for the challenge:

2 OMS engines at the orbiter to do the Orbit Insertion (+15) (is 4 good? its a heavy ass shuttle)

the orbiter has a big payload bay (+15) (i think 16meters in length is big... or huge or ginormous...)

docking port inside payload bay (+5)

at least 3 kerbal-crew (+10)

orbiter has delta-wings (+20)

orbiter has landing gear (+15) (if you forgot these...)

orbiter lands either at KSC or Island Airport (+5)

so 160 points... but this sort of doesn't count because well... 2 much mods and i already had it...

Find a picture site to show your craft, using steam will not work. I suggest imgur.com, it is easy to use and has a decent layout.

I like the challenge but will not be doing it because I suck at shuttles and suck more with stock parts in stock KSP. If it doesn't have FAR and DRE it doesn't make sense to me.

The closest thing I have to a good shuttle:

I'll toss my stock and cargo bay lacking

into the ring in hopes that it inspires more people to tinker with staged burnouts and SRB clustering. I'll also toss up a quick bonus shot of the mod craft version that does have the bay just because it's a whole lot nicer looking in orbit.

I don't see how you could have a resealable cargobay with stock parts only. Most of the stock shuttles I've seen around have either jettisonable bay "doors" or an open air bay.

Well, I guess my KTS replica is perfect for here. It will lose 25 points for not having a cargo bay, and another 15 for having a crew of only three, but I think it complies with everything else. I even invented segmented boosters for it! (even though I had to put only three segments in the end). This is the craft thread, I'll put something better when I'm not posting from a phone:

Edit: apparently, I didn't fiddle with the return enough to get to KSC, so that would be a further 5 points less, bringing the total to 170 as it is right now.

Rune. A good reason to dust off the design! I could even whip up a small stock cargo bay to go for 200 points... or the full 215 if seats are allowed, which they shouldn't.

-only solid fueled boosters (+10) ( there is Liquide fuel in the booster)

-no engines at the external tank (+15) check

-3 main engines at the orbiter fueled by the external tank (+10) check

-2 OMS engines at the orbiter to do the Orbit Insertion (+15) (RCS)

-the orbiter has a big payload bay (+15) 3 tons

-the payload bay is resealable (+5) No payload bay in the stock game

-docking port inside payload bay (+5) 3 of them

-at least 3 kerbal-crew only 2

-orbiter has delta-wings (+20)

-orbiter has landing gear (+15)

-orbiter lands either at KSC or Island Airport (+5)

So 180 or 190 ^^
