You can't land on gilly... unless you are a soviet engineer back in '70 with stalin behind your back

One way to land on gilly is to trust towards it so you have 10-15m/s, you reduce this to 2-3m/s 20-50 meter above ground. Use rcs to push towards ground a bit at touchdown.

In my newer Gilly landers I use ion engines to thrust down. It's the only thing I actually use ion engines for.

This was an successful landing on gilly.

Or more accurate I had landed and wanted to move the base closer to the other two ships.

In short gravity is so low you can mostly ignore it.
