[0.23] VAB Helper release v0.1.1

Mini-plugin which allows detaching ship parts that are obscured (in VAB/SPH screens). Position the mouse somewhere over the obscured part and use Control+MiddleClick (a menu will be shown - see screenshot). The shortcut can be configured to anything else (see config.conf after unpacking the .zip file).

Notes

  • Using Alt in the shortcut is discouraged as it seems to collide with the functionality of the editor (Alt+Click in KSP duplicates the selected parts).

It looks like it allows you to select parts that are obscured by other parts in front of them,

e.g. you could pick up a part that was inside a closed cargo bay, or pick up a fuselage tank that it completely plastered in batteries without having to find that single-pixel gap between them where you can see the tank itself, or you can pick up a small object that has gotten itself lost inside the collider for, say, a ladder.

At least, that's what I think it is for

Yeah because if it is: AWESOME, if not, damn

Edit: actually you guys are definitley right z-axis is a plane in a 3d field so that suggests that you can pick up objects behind others, as for the conflict, I put a hash-tag in front of the original command line and deleted the one in front of control-alt-shift-click, I will come back and tell you if this changed it!

I believe SelectRoot already uses ctrl+shift+click, you might consider changing the default.

I see - I changed the shortcut to Control+MiddleClick. Hopefully it won't be in collision with something else. :)

I also clarified the purpose of the plugin (yes, it allows you to pick obscured parts).

Yeah, the confusion for me resulted from only the one axis being mentioned, as it would have to be a heck of an odd plugin if it only worked in the z-axis. that would mean that only parts in a straight line stretching forwards/backwards at x0, y0 could be selected.

Anyway, all clear now. Cheers. =)
