The Game With Crowdsourced Rules

Holo

Recommended Posts

Basically, in this game everyone gets to decide what the rules are. Not through democracy or anything silly like that, but through plain disorganised rule chaos.

How does this work without descending into a meaningless thread? What happens is Player A posts an action, a statement, or whatever that they do. The next player states in their post whether or not that is allowed, then posts their action or statement. If something was allowed once, it is always allowed until someone is allowed to say that is not allowed. The first person to 100 points wins.

Example Gameplay

A: I grant myself one point.

B: That is not allowed. I grant myself one point through posting this image.

C: That is allowed. I grant myself one point.

D: That is not allowed. I grant myself one point through posting this image.

A: That is allowed.

And so on. Feel free to create complex webs of precedents in order to lead people to be forced to let you grant yourself 100 points. With my uncreative example done, I now start.

I grant myself one point.

That is not allowed; the five-point for colour writing must change target colours on a daily basis. Today's colour is Red.

I gain five points for using the Colour of the Day, and presently have 14 points.

That is not allowed. The number 12 only grants 6 points.

I gain 7 points. I automatically gain 5 points for using the daily colour, and award myself three points (one for notifying the law of a rule break, and two for making this post be acceptable by Rule No. 7's standards)

Points: 7

That is not allowed. I gain three points for preventing an instant-win situation. Henceforth, all players who do not publicly declare their running total immediately lose four points.

Points: 22. (+5 points for red, +3 for preventing instant win, previous total=14)

That is not allowed. Preventing instant win is something that any good citizen should do, and affords no extra point. Your total is legally 19 points.

I gain 7 points: 5 for using the daily colour, 2 points for having two posts so far.

POINTS: 14

That is not allowed. Points based on something that is time consuming or not readily available in simple data form cannot be awarded,

Your legal total is 12.

I gain an additional ten points: 5 for using the daily colour, 5 points for utilising more than one colour in a single post.

Points: 29.

That is not allowed - all math used should be correct. You are hereby penalised six points for terrible math, and your current total is 18.

I award myself three points for correcting poor math skills + 5 points for colour of the day + 5 points for using more than one colour.

Points: 42.

That is allowed, but you are penalised 3 points for using the colour blue in conjunction with red, which is illegal. The new daily colour is pink.

I gain 5 points for using the daily colour, and another 5 for using black in conjunction.

Total: 22

This is a fun game.

That is allowed, but you are penalised 4 points for overly minimal use of the daily colour. Your current legal total is 18.

I gain 5 points for using the daily colour, and 5 points as it is in addition to black, and an additional 7 points, as I have been faithfully using the daily colour for three days straight.

Points: 56.

That is allowed. From this point forth, each user must display their current points score, or be penalised seven points (enforced at the discretion of the person who posts after them).

I gain 5 points for using the colour of the day, 5 for using another colour, and an additional three points for inventing a new rule.

Points: 59.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
