AN/DN Nodes on Map View without Target

Recommended Posts

I just think that it would be very useful to know where your Ascending and Descending nodes are in a regular orbit. Currently in stock there is no real way to know when you should be changing your inclination.

Maybe have them a different colour to the Target Nodes?

I feel this is a simple feature which would remove a lot of frustration, let me know what you guys think?

If you mean that when no target is selected, AN/DN nodes should show your inclination relative to equatorial plane of the body you're orbiting then I definitely agree.

On the other hand, equatorial orbits are overrated. You rarely need exactly equatorial orbit.

Yes please!

Does anyone have any workarounds for this? For Kerbin you can use the Mun's orbit as a reference, but is there a way for other bodies? I have a Mun station that needs aligning.

What I've done is put something in a very high orbit and used mechjeb to change the inclination to 0 degrees, or whatever you need. Then, I can use that as a reference and do it manually, myself, any time after that.

Well, using MJ (either let the autopilot do it or use the displays) and if you want to do it manually, PreciseNode.

I generally like to fly without mods, but I think that using MJ to set up a reference point is easier than trying to target, say, Duna, when I'm only trying to adjust inclination over the Mun. I have not used PreciseNode. I'll have to give it a look some time.
