Oo, that's going to be a handy feature. Like a lot of other people have already mentioned, I have plans to use them like "boat lights" for my craft to help me with docking alignment and such. Might even do a few other silly little things as well, like "space billboards" and the like (though it's a shame that you can't program the lights to flicker on and off in regular intervals; that would be quite useful indeed).

You don't HAVE to make them tacky oversaturated colors. My plan was just to give them a slight green cast for parts with Kerbals in them and a slight red cast for engines, the way I do with navlights now.

Good one parameciumkid. A slight tinge of colour may look cool and may be useful like you suggest like indicating crew are on board or dead ship, engines are out of fuel.

Yes. With the round ones up front and the square ones in back. Then some "neon" effects underneath. Lowrider rovers will be awesome.
