Why would it not be possible? Look around at the mods already made for this game, basically anything is possible, it just comes down to how much time someone is willing to spend on programming it.

Perhaps - but there is probably a big difference in the difficulty-level of having to code up an whole new kind of contract system that uses subassemblies (for premade contract-defined satelites and whatnot) - or simply altering the flavor text and adding more subassemblies with a mod
