Mysterious Blue Dot

[HKG4945]

When I came back from a solar orbit and try to land my probe, the terrain become a big blue dot and my craft exploded around 200 meters above sea level...

Can someone explain it and help me sort it out?

This happened to my flag once. It means you go under the surface of Kerbin to the core and then explode.

(almost) the same just happened to me as well, coming down home the graphics did not change to higher resolution like it usually would, and approaching surface it was like 'landing' on Jool. My ship survived though. Oh and I did not have the claw and there are no mods whatsoever.

Do you have any mods installed? Go into Settings, Graphics, and check to make sure that 'Fallback Shaders' = False. Fallback shaders is one of those options that if turned on can cause weird graphics problems.

That happened to me too, though i have visual enhancements installed, so instead of black and a blue dot, it was a blue dot with the clouds on the other side of Kerbin showing up.

The Pale Blue Dot I was trying to refer to obliquely was a photo taken from within the solar system. Nothing interstellar about it.

What is weird is that the kraken isn't ripping ships apart. The planet is quite simply disappearing, and the craft falls to the blue dot and crashes.

Perhaps if this happens again to someome, try to zoom way out and see if the ship has clipped into the terrain.
