Obtaining unobtainable science

basically, there is even a low kerbin orbit launchpad biome.

but it requires extrem luck or skill to get measurements in that certain biome. because a spaceship at orbital velocity would pass that biome within 1/100s, which is far less than one frame.

surely such science can be achieved by planning a straight up-and-down suborbital flight, in such a way that you always match kerbins orbit, and stay directly above the launchpad? It'd take a lot of trial and error, but I think it could be done.

What I find funny about the "flying over x" science is that you can get it by just getting out of your cockpit and doing an EVA report

Since you're not actually on the ground. I find this to be really convenient because I can just collect it and the two on-ground experiments at the end of a space mission.

I've seen this since 0.22 and have done eva science from orbit "in space over KSC" I think the only reason we have it is becausethey wanted the ground experiment...

Yes, to make it more fun, with KAS you can pick up the small instruments and do measurements of space just above Mun biomes hanging on the cockpit door.

This is nice on rover missions.

IIRC the KSC, Launcpad, and Runway biomes aren't supposed to show up in the air. So getting them is a bug basically.

This I would like to see fixed at some point, being as it's another clear bug and somewhat exploitable.

I thought the KSC, launchpad, and runway biomes only existed on the ground and otherwise you got "Kerbin's Shores". Was this changed?

EDIT:

I actually think the ability to get 'flying over' science on a ladder is intentional, as there's a special message for it: "This is a most precarious situation", which the devs must have intentionally put in.
