Asteroid Tagging

Recommended Posts

I have 137 asteroids being tracked (don't ask)

Some of them are on a collision course with kerbal...

One or two are on collision course with mun/minmus...

Alot just swing through kerbins influence.

Some are in their own orbits...

But which ones?

Could do with a 'flagging' method so that when we track an asteroid we can flag the asteroid with a coloured flag. The colour of which would mean whatever meaning we/I wanted... So, if i put a red flag on an asteroid then that could mean it's on a collision course. Yellow could mean near miss... green means don't worry about it... blue - something else... etc etc...

But then again, i'd also like to see the asteroid icon and track to change to the flag colour to indicate the colour of the flag and be able to select that flag colour too.

Useful.

Could be nice to be able to use this to colour the orbit of pretty much any orbiting body, so for example, you can, at a glance, tell your orbiting KSPi power relays apart from your orbital fuel depots from your "just because I can" megaconstructions.

Agreed. Also maybe colour should be chosen by entering 3 values between 0 and 255

Well, I'm thinking more an HSL or HSV colour-wheel picker as something people will pick up more intuitively than manual RGB (or HSL, HSV, CMYK) value entry. The HSL/HSV model means people can just twiddle with the H (Hue) value without having to bother with the rest, and still get a lot of contrasting colours that can be picked out easily. Also easily recognisable to anybody who has used Photoshop or The GIMP. However, this is all implementation details. Colourable orbits: Do want.

Definitely sounds like something they should add to Vanilla.
