kerbonaut101
I know that there is a planned features wiki page (Is this an official page or a community thing?) but I would like to see more detail in what Squads plans for KSP are and what the schedule is.I found this example to try and help illustrate what I am asking for http://spacebasedf9.com/devplans*typo in the title "'Development Roadmap'..." Edited April 14, 2014 by kerbonaut101 posted details of a typo in the thread title
Kasuha
Too much too detailed information in advance is too much subject to change. And the more they change the more people complain.I think things are ok as they are.
Panzerbeard
Oh, god, please no. The last thing we need is people whining when the future updates don't perfectly match up with the published plan. I think it's better the way it is, personally.
DoctorCruz
No, a roadmap would cause so much problems. I would like more in depth dev updates though.
bigyihsuan
Maybe have *less* specific details, like:0.13: ???0.14: Persistent crafts0.15: Planes0.16: 2.5m parts0.17: More planets0.18: Docking0.19: Reentry effects, rovers0.20: Flags0.21: Changed SAS, KSC overhaul0.22: Start of career, tech tree0.23: Science overhaul0.23.5: Arm pack, asteroids0.24: Contracts, money, etc.And so on. Just general categories that show the major things that will be new in each update (as in, game-changing stuff).
Guest
Maybe have *less* specific details, like:snip...And so on. Just general categories that show the major things that will be new in each update (as in, game-changing stuff). This is what we already get, only one update in advance. So when 0.23 was released, we got a dev blog about how contracts were up next in 0.24. Then the ARM thing came along and 0.24 got sidelined (for good reason, IMO), but now they're back on contracts, and probably some other nice little things as well.To me, this is ideal. It keeps people from going ballistic with whining while keeping the players informed.
Rowsdower
I'm stating this upfront - I'm going to close this thread because there have been a number of similar ones in the past that have gone sour really fast. However, to answer your question, kerbonaut101, there is no plan to publish a public roadmap for future updates. There is a lot that can change during a development cycle. Unless clearly noted otherwise, such as HarvesteR's article about what he has in mind in 0.24, SQUAD wants to make sure that what is stated to be in the game, will, in fact, be implemented. There are certain long term goals, like budgets, contracts and multiplayer that have been laid out publicly and will see release.
