Hey, Where i live there was a power outage. I was KSPing doin my thing workin on my rockets... All of a sudden EVERYTHING TURNS OFF. So of course we go outside see if everyone else is, And the WHOLE COMPLEX WAS DARK!!!!

So SMUD Told us there was an outage said to last until Saturday at 12:30 AM.

But luckily I could still KSP without internet, But then 5-10 minutes later the power switches back on, And we we're like that's a bit fast for 12:30 AM...

So we checked the clock and it was only 10:00 PM.

So luckily it was wrong, I'm glad that's over.

Have you ever been in or had a blackout that happened to YOU or your complex?

Tell everyone below!

My house (no, not a tall building. It's a little house on the countryside) got hit by lightning in 2011 IIRC. Then again, that's basically the opposite of a power outage :)

Was anything damaged like caught on fire? Because of the super heat in the lightning?

Hurricane Ike sucked. It hit all the way up to Ohio and got me :( One week without power.

Same here in Kentucky. Then the next February, we had an ice storm that had the power out for 2 weeks. It killed all of my fish. I hate ice storms.

It think its really off-topic what im going to say but when i was a kid there was a power outage on my street just a week after a Hurricane (I live in La Paz, B.C.S. Mexico a part where hurricanes are not used to be reaaally dangerous but my mom said there was one that killed most of people living close to coast when she was a kid :sealed: Note: It has been around 4 years since the last hurricane here.) A cable of electricity got weak and fell on the way, the street was closed and the cable was jumping on every discharge because power was still going! it took 2-3 hours to repair it.

Just to continue i got more info about that old hurricane that my mom told me:

She said that the street that goes by coast was filled whit bodies found, but they weren't to find them all. Some people say thats why many places near the center of the city are haunted, Because many people died by that.

But wait there's more!.

This one includes an evil choice to save the city

During another hurricane (Probably after the one i already said) The rain was so intense that it caused a dam to be able to redirect that water to the city, hours before that could happend the gobernor of the state decided to blow it up, So all the water could continue its natural flow, but there was a problem: The flow would pass over the poor area of the city (AKA rural part). But they chosed to blow the dam up anyway. at 2-3 AM the army send out a group to place the bombs and blow the dam. my mom said that during the night a big explosion noice could be heard an during the morning the water was flowing like a chocolate rapid. Many people died there, and all the tragedy wasn't Inevitable.

They just blew the dam, whitout even evacuating the people there!

Even my grandma could die there (She lived close to that place but on a higher place)!

I think they didn't evacuate to skip a refund from the material loss.

But it was soo evil. probably the person who gave the order didn't sleep well anymore since that day...

That'll teach you to go to the darkside of a planet and forget to bring batteries

Nothing caught fire, but a lot of stuff broke due to the immense electricity in the lightning bolt. Thankfully, my room had no damages. However, it killed my brother's STB and some other stuff. I remember seeing a BSOD right before the screen went black.

Anyways, it looked really cool from inside (the windows turned purple for a fraction of a second :3). Now whenever there's a thunderstorm (like twice a month during the summer) we unplug everything to prevent damages.

We had four days without power in February. A big ice storm brought down trees and power lines all over the region.

We're thinking about having a generator installed this year. This was the third year in a row we had outages. It's an old suburb with huge trees. And I'm an old, sickly guy who doesn't cope like he used to.

What kind of annoys me is that even though I've got a PV array the regulations say it has to switch itself off if it detects the grid disappearing. I know it's to stop me from zapping the lads doing repairs, but it still just doesn't seem right. I don't see why the regs don't allow me to install an islanding isolator if it was reasonably failsafe.

So even though I've got a mini power station on my roof, if the grid goes down I have no power either. Stupid.

I was living at an remote farm when i was kid back in 80´s. We had poweroutages a lot. Problem was that we had electrical waterpump, so when we had no power, we had no drinking water, no flushing toilet, no bath, no shower. But me and my brother liked it. because mother allways lit a lot of candels and father was telling scarry stories. It was allways fun. I was imaginating that we are stranded on an island.

What country has that for regulations? I don't think I ever heard of that stupidity before.
