[Showcase] Showoff Your Rep-Worthy Crafts

I made a N1 a while back. I tried to be part-conservative, but even then it crashed my game like 20 times, at least half of which I was in the VAB. Not the most accurate lander, but I did what I could.

I think this is my favorite thing I've ever built.

It's pretty much completely mod parts, except for the first stage engines and fins. All of the fuel tanks are Procedural Parts and the textures are either the ones that come with Procedural Parts, Ferram4's absolutely beautiful Saturn/Nova textures, or custom ones. The "UNITED STATES" on the first stage and the "USA" on the third stage are Nebula decals, and so is the "UNITED STATES" decal on the CSM. The CSM is also completely modded, and its engine is a KW Vesta with a slightly modified texture, its RCS blocks are stock revamped ones, and its antenna is the FASA one. The command pod is the K-P0110 pod with a darker texture, black windows, and TR reflection module. It's purdy.

One of my main ships in the fleet. It is a short range carrier that is able to go a short range without a refuel. But, it can hold 5 fighters or 1 interceptor and 2 fighters. In the album, you can see it loaded with a squadronette of 3 fighters and escorts of an interceptor and a long range fighter. And, it has 4 high speed high mass missiles capable of disabling capital ships. Craft file on request, Mechjeb 2 required until I remove it, which I will do on request along with the craft file.

Powerplant: 4 LV-N NERV Engines

Weapons: 4 High Velocity I Beams

Fighter Capacity: 1 Cerberus-class interceptor and 2 Orion class Fighters or 5 Orion Class Fighters

Maneuvering Type: Reaction Wheels

Crew Capacity: 6 Kerbals(Hitchiker Module, Cupola Module)

Don't know how many times I get to marvel at her, but here she is:

A long distance Ore tanker built for sustained missions at the edge of the Kerbol system. She comes with 2 Hydrogen cells for primary power, and 2 fuel cells for backup power. 2 Drills for, obviously, Ore harvesting. Meant to transfer Ore, and Hydrogen to a return vessel to fuel challenger crafts. Lights for visibility at night, seats for 4 crew, a ton of Ore storage, docking capabilities, and even autonomous control.

Building this sucker took a really really long time, if you couldn't tell.

Hey man, In order for you to show everyone pics, you need to upload them to some sort of host site like imgur. Then you right click on the image and select Copy Image URL. That address is what you put into the IMG BB code. :) Hope that helps. There are other ways of doing it of course, just google it.

Welcome to the forums btw!

I was wondering, WHY THE HECK IT WAS"NT THERE, so thank you. :)

This is my go-anywhere exploration ship. It's powered by a nuclear reactor and a VASIMR engine and has 41km/s of dV when fully fueled. Has room for 6 kerbals and some tools and spare parts (there's a KIS container between the fuel tank and the science module, hidden under the big radiators). Can be fitted with just about any combination of scientific instruments - this one is carrying a Karbonite scanner, a SCANSat antenna and some of the stock KSP instruments.

It's currently en route to Urlum's moon Wal, then to Wal's moon Tal, and then back to Kerbin, possibly with a stopover at the Jool system.

My take on a Colonial Viper from Battlestar Galactica. No specific version emulated here, though I think more of the design cues came from the Mk II from the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica.

The prototype was capable of reaching orbit on its own.

But the armed version, being heavier, needed a little help in the form of a drop tank. And that only JUST. It takes some careful ascent profile to reach orbit with enough fuel left to maneuver. But operationally I think that would be okay in theory, since you'd want to link up with a larger vehicle for re-fueling/transport anyway. (I'm working on a Battlestar myself. :D )

A couple of thirsty Vipers top off from my "Zepheranthes" supply ship.

One thing that just occurred to me, though, and I'll see if I can address it. I realized that being able to reload a drop-tank via docking port would be a good idea. So I'm looking at the possibility of replacing the decoupler that attaches the drop tank with a small docking port released via action group.

And that sparked another thought -

The one major advantage that home-built stock weapons have over BD Armory - and something I've seen in video series such as Macey Dean's - is the capability of re-loading weaponry to an existing craft. You can reload the ammo of a BD Armory set of guns, but not the missiles.

So I'm looking to address that as well. And I think I've got an idea or two.

Presenting Ore Bot 2.1, a revised version of my uncrewed mining lander. Since I recently finally unlocked RTGs in my Career save, I decided to see if I could power a mining drill entirely on radiothermal power and thus have no need for the Sun. Thanks to that it costs well over 500,000 funds xD

2Mydb54.png

It's also stronger, more efficient, lighter on parts, and easier to stuff into Mk3 cargo bays, and all without abusive clipping (although the RTGs are within the hollow space inside a girder segment).

Here's my latest fighter design, the F-300 Flame Bandit. Currently, the plane is equipped for the ground attack role, loaded with six Fishfinder Dumberfire missiles.

In case anyone was wondering, I used the T800 fuel tanks as part of the fuselage in order to keep the option open of turning it into an SSTO one day. In atmo configuration, I remove the oxidizer to save wait.

The missiles do actually fire...

VbiXQM8.png

And have decent accuracy at close range.

efAxaYb.png

The missiles are powered by solid fuel septrons. The small tanks are only meant to house liquid fuel in order to modify missile trajectories/change the explosiveness of the unit.

7TCg5XE.png

It's a fun ship to fly and can haul a decent amount of payload/fuel as needed.

Thanks for looking!
