The BIG, Long-Term questions

Recommended Posts

Here's my big questions.

Will KSP keep being developed after v1.0?

Will KSP go on to consoles? (Xbox, wii, etc.)

Upgrading KSC facilities?

If you can answer these, please do so.

1. Yes, as far as I am aware no word has been made that states otherwise, and because almost all indi games of this nature do continue development I think it is safe to say yes.

2. Most likely not, but then again minecraft did although the market is much smaller.

3. Not sure

1. Yeah probably, it'd add to it's innovative status and keep people playing; unless they want to work on something new. Though, looking from previous trends, it could be a few years before we get anywhere 1.0...

2. Hopefully not, it would attract the wrong sort of audience (no mean to cause offense, but consolers usually enjoy a very different kind of gaming experience compared to us PCer's)

3. Some original interviews and snippets of this game's development suggested that they eventually wanted it to be a 'Space Center Tycoon' where you would have to build up and improve the KSC, adding more buildings like different Launchpads and Observatories. I'd absolutely love this, but whether that's still happening or not, only the devs know....

1. I expect development after 1.0 to be mostly bugfixes. New content will be in expansion packs, and hopefully work will start on KSP 2.

2. Possibly. Unity's big selling point is its cross platform capability, if it is easy enough to do I don't see why not.

3. No idea.

1) Considering the whole "if you bought the game before the end of April 2013 you get all the extra DLC free" thing, I guess that yes, after v1.0, there will be packs of stuff to get. Though, it may not be free if you weren't an early adopter.

2) This has been argued over before. The "next-gen" consoles could probably manage it, and nothing is stopping Squad from making a console game that supports a standard USB KB/mouse. It might even end up with PC gamers able to plug a pad in for an alternative control mechanism. So, I would hope so, but I don't know.

3) Unsure!

1) Almost certainly.

2) Unknown. Depends on Unity support for the consoles, I think, and also figuring out a half-decent control scheme for the consoles -- the amount of controls KSP needs barely fits on an xbox/ps controller. Making it require KB/mouse is doable, I suppose.

3) I've not heard anything on this yet, it doesn't seem to be an idea that's being tossed around a great deal.

Im still curious if SQUAD are going to add in a discovery/observatory mechanic for planets. Also is it possible to implement cave and/or lava tube features on the likes of Mun and Duna.

1. As everyone else said, DEFINITELY! I do wonder what type of DLC/Expansions we can expect. More parts? Maybe an official Space-X parts DLC? Make your own Solar-System DLC? I'm just having a hard time thinking up expansion possibilities that shouldn't be stock. Anyone have any ideas of what it might be?
