kinnison
From the changelog for version 6.0:If you aren't using 000_Toolbar, the maps simply appear when you start a scanner. If you are using Toolbar, do a "configure visible buttons" in the flight scene, and SCANsat buttons should be available if you have a SCANsat part on the ship. (If you're on the development branch, 7.0rc4 or later, you no longer need a part to have access to the buttons and maps.)since the toolbar was new for me, I didn't know how to configure it, and that i needed to scroll down to find the scan sat buttons, since it was not in the readme file i did not see this bitthank you

noob1
Hey Guys,I'm having issues with ScanSat. Can't open up the maps, animated parts don't open up in space (they do in the VAB), and clicking the "start scan" button doesn't seem to do anything.I've installed the latest version of ScanSat. I've updated Toolbar to version 1.7.6 Nothing is solving the problem. There was a discussion of this issue on the other thread, but it never appeared to be resolved. Can anyone please help?same exact problem here
Kilmeister
This conflicts with Tarsier Space tech Mod. Once I removed that, Scansat worked again. I tracked this down by accident while looking for a solution to another bug related to Tarsier. Glad to have this back working for me. Ford6
OK. . . I've been through this 54 page thread and the previous 160+ page beast, for the last four hours. I think I might have found a unlisted bug. KSP 24.2 Scansat 7rc5. The anomaly markers for the UFO's aren't showing on the maps. and having trekked to (AKA: "Crash" landed near ) the one on kerbin's north pole I know there still in game. Now so far I'm only using a RADAR scanner. All the other anomaly's have shown up on Kerbin, But they might be set to appear with another sensor. . . like the multi-spectral maybe? Ford6
Yes, anomalies are detected using the multi-spectral (the one that maps biomes). And yet the monoliths show up with the RADAR scanner. . . which is what caused my confusion.
Pecan
As you are using the development version of SCANSat it's probably best to ask about it in the development thread

shand
I've got it LOADED on 0.25, parts avaliable ect ect... no crashes when i run the sats... to be honest i havent actually left it to scan a planet to see if that functions, i'll go do that and report back...my theory is i can make my sats now (as part of the early game contracts you can get sats up as piggyback quite easily) and leave them "running" then when the mod updates they will BOOM work.... or he'll change the parts and they'll detonate in space... either way...EDIT: confirmed, i've got at least the first avaible scanner working nicely (in a nice polar orbit given to me by fineprint nonetheless) Edited October 8, 2014 by shand
DMagic
Version 8 is out now on GitHubThis is mostly the same as the latest version 7 release; Kethane integration is broken for some reason, it will have to be updated later.I'll see about a new thread and a Kerbal Stuff release at some point. The changes from version 6 are below- Updated for KSP 0.25Resource Scanning:- Planetary resource overlay for big map - Supports ORSX resources - All resources types can be scanned in the background; no need to remain in control of a vessel while scanning - All resource scanning data is persistent; no different from standard SCANsat sensors - Resource types controlled through the SCANsat settings menu - Resources scanner types defined through included config file - Support for Modular Kolonization System and Karbonite are provided in their respective packages- ORSX resources - Resources displayed on the big map - Overlay colors can be defined in the included resource scanner config fileParts:- MapTraq deprecated - Part still exists but is not available in the VAB/SPH - Part functionality is completely removed - Module Manager configs for adding the MapTraq SCANsat module should be removed (having the module shouldn't hurt though)- Scanning altitude indicator is present for all SCANsat scanners, including resource scanners - Displayed in the right-click context menu- Improved Multi-Spectral scanner - Improved clickability - More efficient model; 60% reduction in triangle count- Rescaled the BTDT to be much smaller- Part cost balancingBackEnd Changes:- Background scanning will function in every scene where time passes - Flight, Map, Tracking Station and Space Center - Can be turned off from the SCANsat settings menu- SCANsat parts not required for background scanning during flight- SCANsat parts not required for toolbar icons and functional maps - Maps and menus don't work outside of the flight/map scenes- Persistent scanning data storage has been altered - Requires a one-time, automatic conversion from the old to the new method - There have been no complaints as of yet, but users upgrading from SCANsat v6.x may want to make backups of any existing save files- ModStatistics removedBug Fixes:- Science can be gathered from all planets - Reduced science return for planets without terrain/biomes- Active scanners no longer play through their animation on startup; they start fully deployed- Toolbar icons fallback to place holder textures if the default SCANsat icons are moved/altered/deleted- Prevent small map from opening improperly in non-toolbar version- Prevent debug spam on EVA science collection- Improved support for command pods/cockpits using Raster Prop Monitor - Possibly prevent problems such as issue #63 Edited October 9, 2014 by DMagic

undercoveryankee
Which is the official release 6 7 or 8SCANsat follows the "even-numbered releases are stable; odd-numbered versions are prerelease" convention. 8 is the stable release that's compatible with 0.25. 7 is the prerelease of 8. Shania_L
With MapTraq now dis-continued, is the MM patch to add its functionality to all command pods/probes in the mod as standard now?If not, how do I now view maps on craft without scanning devices? Does scansat still require the active craft to have some form of scansat part fitted to enable scanning on all other craft?

Does scansat still require the active craft to have some form of scansat part fitted to enable scanning on all other craft?Viewing the maps and tracking background ships' scans has been moved from individual parts to the flight scene. It works whenever you're controlling a ship, with no need for any particular part or module. The controls are available through a button on blizzy's toolbar. If you don't want to use the Toolbar, you need a SCANsat part to get any of the windows open without the Toolbar.
DMagic
With MapTraq now dis-continued, is the MM patch to add its functionality to all command pods/probes in the mod as standard now?Any Module Manager configs adding the MapTraq module to command parts should be removed; I should also ask whoever is hosting the config on Curse to take it down. They aren't harmful, but they are not needed.Don't touch the MM config included with SCANsat though, that one is different and is required for RasterPropMonitor IVA maps. Shania_L
Oh ok then, thats all good.I dont know who is hosting it, or if there is even one there, the MM file I am (was) using I wrote myself, its only a single block to add the module to all command parts.
