Please release on Github or Curse Dropbox is so slow

It's already on Curse, see the second download link in the OP. Also... it's a 7.5 kilobyte file... I'd suggest talking to your ISP if you have trouble downloading it 0_o

Wonder if the keys are different in Linux? Can't seem to get the default keycombo to work :(

(EDIT) I checked many different key combos and found for Linux it's Left-ALT-CTRL-SHIFT-LeftCLICK to get it to work.

Crap now this clashes with SelectRoot. SelectRoot won't let you set root to a symmetrical part, but the second symmetry is removed using the key combo on Linux SelectRoot is all like "oh hey NOW that part isn't symmetrical" and rebuilds the craft root with the freshly de-symmetrictized part.

Not a huge issue since you can just re-root the part you want to be root after the symmetry strip.

Man, I need to pay more attention to this thread. Anyways, 1.4 fixed an issue with hotkey config, so you should now be able to define whatever hotkey you want.

This is awesome! Thanks Biotronic for taking this up! I actually went and got everything needed to compile it and fixed the child bug and some other stuff and made it work but never posted it due to a seeming lack of interest. If you want to check out my changes and see how they differs from yours I've posted the updated source up to http://edowner.net/files/StripSymmetrySource.zip

Hi, nice mod :)

One thing though... could you make an option, that will only strip the symmetry from the part I selected? The other parts would stay in the symmetry group. It's easier to sort out action groups and staging this way.

Additionally, having an option to individually add equal parts to a symmetry group, would be nice, too. One could use it for more complicated symmetries like asparagus stages and space stations and keep order in those crafts. I tried it by editing the craft file manually and it worked perfectly (unless you move the said part :P)

Wow. Yes, I did want this. I wanted to do this yesterday. I had 3x symmetrical batteries and I wanted to disable one of them but leave the others enabled (thus giving me a backup battery). Of course with symmetry it disabled/enables all at the same time. If you don't do a backup battery in some launchers then you can decouple a lower stage to find your payload was already drained of charge and is dead. (I wish battery was drained from the nearest stage and moved out, not furthest and moved in like fuel.)

Actually, since the mod is available via Github and/or KerbalStuff, I'd suggest you put in a pull request (or an issue for someone else to do it) for a NetKAN entry. That way, the CKAN meta data will be automagically updated when you update your mod. Otherwise, you'll have to submit new CKAN files every time you make a new release.

I can report it works fine ... even though I thought for a moment it didn't

... and I destroyed a symmetry I didn't wanted to.

While this thing is really cool there are some features I'd like to request.

  1. A Message ... in best case including which part you just have destroyed the symmetry of (and maybe a short highlight) and maybe the part it was connected to (also highlight that).

You know that there is the problem hitting the right part in VAB / SPH can be sometimes a chance of pure luck

  2. And undo ... hitting the right part by pure chance ... brings me the topic of an undo ... since the KSP internal doesn't seem to recognize those changes. (well I might be wrong due the lack of feedback)

-------------

forgive my language abilities I am half asleep right now.
