Greetings everyone i can imagine everyone knows this Problem:

You are building a craft and realize:

you get 4 Wings thanks to the geometric system...

but what you want it to look like is more like this because of the wheels :

or a kind of a plane:

What you're looking for is SPH symmetry.

What stupid_chris said. You can move your .craft file to the SPH folder to get the spaceplane symmetry in the SPH, or use a mod like Editor Extensions that permits spaceplane symmetry in the VAB.

Since you're building a plane like structure, try the spaceplane hanger

It is part of the game, if you build your ship in the Space Plane Hangar instead of the VAB. (Big hangar building by the runway.)

another workaround is to use the subassembly function, so you can save in VAB, load in SPH and same way back. But the editor extention mod makes it much simpler.

The fact that the SPH and the Editor Extensions mod manage this highlights that the VAB is deficient in this kind of vertical rocket construction.

Surely four scene changes to attach one pair of parts isn't something we should be aspiring to.

Agreed, symmetry modes shouldn't be exclusive to one building or the other.

Hmmm, if we are going this way then we can say that 2 buildings for building stuff are not necessary. Le't build everything in an combined assemly building (CAB) and decide afterwards where we would like to launch it.

That would actually be fine by me, as long as the size limits horizontally and vertically are the same or bigger.
