Saturbo V [Version 2.0] -- Detailed Apollo Replica (NEW RELEASE - Only 381 parts!)

Recommended Posts

Oh man... the first time i saw this Saturbo beauty. Wonderful replica!

And yes, the stock fairings really deserve a load of care and love. Starts with the bases (no radial attachment?... why?) and ends with everything above them... I really hope, our Devs will take a close look at them in the future.

I'm with you there man. I am enjoying 1.0+ less than any other version. The game is so broken now.. Ho hum. I remain hopefull Squad will sort it after the move to unity 5.

It would be good to see you back on the forums man.

Yeah, the fairings aren't very good, and performance is abysmal. My computer can run trainz 2010 without too much lag, but with KSP, it makes no difference. I like the aero, heat, and engine changes, though.

I feel like all I do on the forums these days is complain about the game. I need to get back to my old ways, starting with this craft.

And then you need to publish it on KerbalX.com to get wit the times. :D STSes dominate the top Download list. I'm desperate to see something other than STSes and SSTOs on it. :)

Gus hates the fairings as well as any other builder worth his/her salt. They are garbage and the game deserves better.

We all hate confetti, but once you mod that (and I fully expect that mod to make it into a stock feature... right, squad? ;)) the stock fairings are pretty cool and a simple way of getting around the problem of how to make fairings work like they are supposed to in KSP.

Hear hear I concurr with majorjim and rune. I dont like 1.0.x changes either. But 1.0.4 is less broken. Could be easy aero fix or else you could take rune's approach and use fairings.

Well, don't throw me in that bag just yet. I'm in love with the 1.04 atmosphere, and even 1.0 seemed like a major improvement. Things designed like the game is meant to be (using nodes and such), flying now feels like a much more "like the real thing" experience, once you take into account the scaling (because heating is way more brutal than in RL... still, a fair decent model, just amped to 11 so you can kill yourself like on RL). And I tell you this will all my aerodynamic baggage behind, which includes more than a bit of real world design.

Not to mention that diriculously low part counts are now, not only possible, but encouraged by the game mechanics in multiple and subtle ways, and I've always been the champion of computer-friendly builds...

Yes, it was buggy, and it probably shouldn't have been called 1.0. But it's the best KSP yet, IMO, once you get over the fact that it's changed a lot. I mean, I think it would be if it hadn't changed, that we should get pissed off about it.

Rune. It's the first version where wings help SSTOs be more efficient, and <1 TWR designs win the payload fraction challenges. They had me right there.
