I voted for both Foozball entries, though Reddit Team 4's entry was pretty compelling, too.

Interesting that the entries are no longer anonymous.

Rules didn't change, they should be anonymous as far as we know

They are not, or at least some of them are not. Entry #5 is posted from the account named "Cupcake Landers", which is a giveaway (though his distinctive VTOL style would have given it to me anyway). Entry #6 has credits naming the team at the end of it, as well as in the description of the video.

It seems to me that there is something up with the teams' videos which are on Vimeo. They are all jerky. Something wrong there, or is it just me?

Could vimeo be trying to auto-stabilize or something? Doesn't do those teams much good.

I thought both the forums and reddit made reasonable attempts.

Reddit 4 was good, but I did like the contraptions in Reddit 6.

As for the forums, I can only say...

Also, keep telling us what you thought of each video!

I know I know, I had the same though

As a supporter of the forum team, it it is hard for me to say that the reddit team won this round, especially team 4 and 5.

Sadly, I agree. I think the Team4 video was great, they got my vote.

Cupcake was on a plane and I tried my hardest at the bar last night to set up a new youtube and download his video on my phone but I just couldn't do it. Anyone who pays even the slightest attention will recognize his craft though

They should have been. It's against the competition rules not to be and I tried squashing it out as much as I caught. However, in this specific instance, it'll work out. Carry on.

Yeah, I recognized the VTOL as one of cupcake's before I even looked at the video info. I don't really think it's a big deal either way, I wasn't influenced by knowing which entry was whose. Just observing that some of the entries aren't anonymous.

Cupcake was obviously flying to your cosplay meetup for round 3. :)

Edit for rowsdower's response: I agree, not a big deal in this case.

Yeah our team also agrees that it's not a big deal this time, and no one should get disqualified, but in order to avoid these situations in the future, we would love to have clearer rules for the next challenge!!

how do you guys say "futbolín" in english?

Foosball.

And I agree, the foosball entries were a clever idea. Team 3 got my vote for the forum side, barely. Team 6 suffered from the fact that I watched the videos in numerical order, and also from the fact that I had a conflict of interest.

Yeah, Cupcake's video. The fact that it is so much one of his videos, was the one that said to me I shouldn't vote him (sorry! but it's true). I mean, it's not that it isn't a great video. I would have totally voted it if it was team cupcake... but it isn't. And the others had more variety, too.

Rune. Honesty is overrated, right?

Yeah I told him the only way we stand a chance of winning round 3 is if he flies here to milwaukee from new zealand. So ya know, keep that in mind as you all vote. Don't make his trip for nothing

Well, my thoughts:

Team 1: A really great concept, possibly the best, but I think the execution could have been a shade better. For example, could the claws not have been set on action groups so there's no need to open the dialog boxes?

Team 2: I didn't "get" this at first, but liked it better on a second watching. The robot is a neat piece of work, and getting the kick is some SERIOUSLY good flying. For that reason, despite it not being the funniest or most aesthetic entry, it gets my vote.

Team 3: Love this entry, simple but nicely done cutting between the two shots, and really put a smile on my face.

Team 4: Epic tale of one-upmanship, and definitely the highest-scoring video, as well as having some neat craft. I so thought I was going to vote for it, but then...

Team 5: The Match of the Day theme really makes it, and honestly, it's why it gets my vote.

Team 6: It's a neat funny montage, and love the Indiana Jones bit, but I prefer the more focussed video.

Other notes:

As many have said, teams 5 and 6 need to follow the rules! No credits, people!

Reddit shaded the forum this time round.

A bit surprised not to see any use of the asteroids. Would have made a nice core for Jeb's ship in Team 4's entry, for example.

Video Analysis Time! Sorry if I'm a bit hard on all teams involved, I'm just trying to offer Constructive Criticism.

Video 1: Not a bad way to start off the Forum videos: FLAMES! FIRE! The beginning doesn't promise as much as the rest of the video delivers, though.

In the future, please don't repeat a 5-second-long clip of text over and over and over when the narrators are talking. The in-space gameplay was nice, but all of the action took place outside of KSC, which bent the rules. I was thinking about SpongeBob-style narrator interjections during the "GOAL" shout, too, before I made the video all unconventional and such!

The lack of any real excitement during the video, combined with difficult-to-read text, made this the least favorite of the three team videos. (sorry.)

Video 2: I think I have an idea of who made this one. Another very exciting intro, but this one actually followed by more exciting content. I love the way that the "Goal" shout was incorporated as part of (I think) the robot-controlling Kerbal's screams.

I have to pick at this one a bit more to find the flaws. If I want to be all nit-pickey, I'll just state that many parts are illuminated from the mouse being over them, which is a bit aesthetically wrong. But I'm just splitting hairs at this point.

I would rank this as likely the best video-wise, but worst in terms of imaginative qualities. Perhaps this is because I flew a ball into a goal on the roof of the VAB, as well. On the plus side, it's the only video that actually features something kicking a ball into a goal, which was one of the requirements for this challenge.

Video 3: What a clever idea! Kerbal Foosball is novel, and certainly not something that I would see every day (Team 6 didn't do as good of a job with this IMO). The video is well-made and the "GOAL" shout is the best of the three videos. (Though, I'm not sure that you can walk away after such an impressive shout without immediately passing out. But I'll let that slide.)

There are a few little issues that got under my skin with this one, but not a lot. The Kerbal voices were a little annoying, and the video cuts don't always sync up with the music, which also ends about two measures too soon (Couldn't you have just let the song reach that cute little climax?) Also, and I'm really picking nits here, doesn't one Kerbal or another score a goal at 0:31, and the video is cut before the ball goes in?

I would say that this video is the most creative of the Forum members', and I think that it deserves a bit of applause.

With all of this being said.

My vote goes to Team 2 for their admirable following of the rules of the challenge, as well as the most fun-to-watch video of the three.

Though, of course, I still think that my video is by far and away the best of all. (Avera9eJoe's video is pretty good too.)

In the future, I think we should really be clear about anonymous submissions.

You'll notice that each video uploaded anonymously has roughly the same number of views, whereas CupcakeLander's video has almost about 2.5x the number of views. At first I wasn't thinking it was a big deal, but now I'm betting it'll result in some really skewed results

I totaly agree it got more views because cupcake posted it. Just keep in mind that there is no link to the vote on that page. If someone saw that, and felt the need to vote, they still had to go to the reddit or forum link to vote. And all of the videos are avaliable directly above the link.

Good point. Looks like the other teams videos have caught up in view count in proportion to your team's video. The greater number of views was probably due to his subscriber base. So I may be wrong about it affecting vote count much at all. Especially since viewers would have to head to the forums or reddit to vote.

Next time though. Next time...
