Had a couple folks send me vids of their progress... all I'm gonna say is it brought a tear to my eye. You guys are constantly surprise me with both how often you do things very similar to how I would've done something, and alternately doing something I would never consider and have it work beautifully.

As a metric by how stunned I was so far since de-officing tonight, I have dropped a lit cigarette on myself twice and suffered one small burn. Well done, folks!

Well said sir. And get some ointment for that too!

Ok, here's the word from Rowsdowser himself: Challenge is extended until Tuesday.

#EDIT: For those suffering bugs with it... have you tried fooling around with the physics slider?

Just want to ask for confirmation on this. (main post wasn't updated) I just don't want to miss out on the deadline if its actually still today.

So testing tonight has shown that the floating can (can! Not necessarily does) happen even with a single claw attached to whackjob's ships, and so my idea from yesterday is no longer relevant. I was able to get two legs into orbit without issue today, but ran into problems on the third.

The claws are clearly buggy by themselves: I can "toggle armed" via an action group even when the claw is supposedly attached to something, and various other weird state-machine based behaviour problems. So you might want to take another look at that thing, Squad dudes.

Has anyone managed to get the entire ship assembled with all docking ports connected correctly?

No..., despite what other says, not all the ports are docking. That means, big bad problems when landing :D

Assembled, yes. All docking ports kissing each other with endless passion? Nope.

I had something special planned for this Independence Day weekend... but this really huge obstruction has been in my way. *kicks the Arkingthaad* *It falls over, explodes, shrapnel flying out and destroying everything then crashing reality**

Finally I'm enjoying the hackjob challenge

edit: And with my poor english, I though Hackjob could mean something like a hacker job. I wanted to make a nice joke about how we have to hack (not real hacking) through all the glitches in order to acomplish this awesome challenge, which I'm really enjoying and wasn't joking or being ironic at all!!! I say this because Wooks explained me what hackjob meant in english. Sorry Whackjob!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I meant no disrespect

Language faux pas (screwing up a translation) is a common thing, I still need to double check everything I write just to be sure.

The whole thing was I think ~700 parts hehe. Do I at least get partial credit for staying under a thousand? :)

Yes, definitely. But I think you could have kept the vast scale of the thing and still have fewer parts - one RTG instead of solar panels and batteries, less struts, no lights, etc.

The lag actually wasn't too bad while driving around KSC with the parts on the ground, but it was quite laggy when the whole thing was put together and flying through space or the air.

*whistles* Good thing I stopped building then, haha! Let's just say... you don't want to know what my original plan was. :)

You get nothing! NOTHING. Oh, and that little gag of yours naming each piece "lite"... you are going to pay for this one.

I'm doing the challenge the hard way and oh boy! how does the lag piles up with each piece of equipment on the field, at least Andrew teached me how to reduce my physics frame limit inside the settings file and that's the only way to be able to move the parts around.

I don't think I can finish the challenge on "hardcore / nightmare" setting on time for the deadline, thankfully my team already has me covered on that one because they are awesome, but I'm going to keep working on this one after the Kerbin Cup finishes.

I'll crack the code, I'll see the Matrix, you won't get away with this one Whackjob.
