Big thanks for getting back to me Pete. Yes, I am sure that I am using the linux branch, I have a fresh install of Ubuntu and it is the only version of RVE I have downloaded. And yes I I copied the scatter folder from the repo to /gamedata and merged it with the existing scatterer folder (tried both versions of scatterer - the current one and the one suggested in the repo readme).

And to make sure, this is what I did:

1. Downloaded scatterer

1. Copied the RVE and scatterer folders from the RVE linux repo to gamedata

2. Copied the EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements folder from the zip filed in the Overhaul branch of EVE to gamedata

3. Copied the BoulderCo folder from the zip in the Overhaul branch of EVE to gamedata and deleted Atmosphere, CityLights, Terrain folders

that's about it.

Funny thing I noticed is that whenever I change the launch site, I seem to be getting an additional layer of clouds:

It's the scatterer files distributed with RVE that are causing this with the latest scatterer mod update. Try just using scatterer mod and RVE both 'stock'.

Thanks, but it seems that even without the scatterrer config files thins stay the same, i.e. one cloud layer, no terrain textures. I must be doing something wrong. I think I will try to install just the essential RSS/RO mods and try RVE with that.

Go into the Alt+E EVE GUI and double check all values for colour in terrain are between 0-255, if there are any above change them to 255, save the GUI values then restart the game, just fixed this issue on my install :P

Thank you, thank you, thank you! One value was at 256. Now my KSP is complete, I just cannot make myself to play it without RVE. You're doing excellent work and, honestly, I can't wait for the next version!

Thanks a ton! That fixed my ocean and terrain textures.

My clouds are still a problem though. Do you know what's going on with them?

Hello, all. I am a first-time user of RSS+RO+RVE, and from what I've played, it does feel like quite a different game. The only problems that I've run into so far, though, is with atmospheric haze (from orbit) and very low clouds (they seem low to me, anyway). I applied the clouds from the alt+e menu, and I am also running KSP with the x64 hack and the unfixer.

No Haze: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9eew3345g60xmdl/No%20Haze.png?dl=0

I also forgot to mention that I using the version of RVE for 1.0.4.

Have you installed scatterer? RVE requires it.

Yep, as well as installing the RSS-compatibility config that Scatterer includes. Perhaps I'm installing RVE incorrectly? I put the contents of the RVE archive (EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements and RVE) into the GameData folder, as well as the contents of Scatterer's archive (with the included RSS compatibility config, of course).

Yeah, I got the same issue. Followed all the instructions, including scatterer+config. Applying Alt+E clouds doesn't seem to do anything, they are too low and end at around 3km. Also, there is Z-fighting going on when looking from map view.

32Bit-KSP, Win7/64 and OpenGL mode.

Edit: Some points that might be important: The ALT+E Eve manager doesn't show any options (some posts here indicate that might be an issue), only the presets.

Also, Debug windows shows some exceptions when opening the manager:

[Exception]: MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'ConfigNode.SetValue'.

Hey guys, new dedicated Win32 branch on Github for testing

BTW despite all the memory reductions I made my game would crash on every 2nd or 3rd scene change. I'm kinda just putting this up to see if anyone has anymore luck than I did.

RVE folder is now only 30MB as all textures are DXT5 compressed, woo but still crashing :(

My preconditions for running:

OpenGL mode (an abosolute must for 32 bit)

ATM agressive

2k RSS textures

No large part mods (only really tested with KW and proc. parts)

I removed all other RSS planet textures that I wasn't gonna be using also.

Notable improvements from previous win version:

Scatterer atmosphere incorporation

Atlantis/Ocean transparency and blobbing effect gone

Orbit terrain texture

For more info and install instructions see the Readme.txt included in DL

First try scared me a bit. Main screen was "white Earth", and on going into my save and loading an in-orbit vessel through the tracking station, I get this nice view:

Worked fine when I started from the ground, though. Weird.

Unsorted rest of a quick launch:

Javascript is disabled. View full album

I also noted that I had "tiny Earth" inside "big earth" in mapview. See http://i.imgur.com/NZ9SHeY.png.

Rechecking, I noted that I hadn't fixed scatterer by changing the PlanetName.txt CelestialBody from "Kerbin" to "Earth". I guess that still is necessary?

Downloaded, and tested:

Sky is little red though... that expected?

Wow that was fast! No, it shouldn't look as is does in that. It looks as though scatterer isn't working at all? did you make sure to follow the instructions fully? (sorry the readme.md is a bit screwed up with formatting, check the .txt)

No you don't want to change scatterer as config like that leave them as it comes. Stratochief has just figured how to get scatterer working in map screen and the fix is now on git. Also the white earth on main menu is a known bug, it fixes if you go into the setting menu and back again, not sure what causes it, possibly load order. And no going straight into tracking center doesn't work either (in readme)

Awesome! works fine, thanks :)

Ha.. sweet :) check again, a few changes have been made on git
