Ask him for screens and you'll get a video. What happens if you ask for a video? You guessed it... your computer will infiltrate your brain with nano-spores that will transform reality into a complete simulation of a kerbal... complete with the horrifying pain and death that accompanies a kerbal being killed for science. Be careful what you ask for.

So, I was watching that video and thought to myself "but once we get the transparent pod stuff, we won't be able to see all that." So, I have to ask, is there a way that we can make those details, hopefully in an extra semi-transparent state, be visible on the windows from within the transparent pod? That would really enhance the immersion.

Orbital Tug DEV v0.2

http://www./download/sp63it2kugspcc2/OrbitalTugDEV0.2.zip

Extract to KSP/GameData to install; requires Firespitter by Snjo, and JSIPartUtilities by Mihara, both included.

  • use included windowsTemplate.png for creating your own window textures and decals.
  • drop a PNG into OrbitalTug/Flags to use ingame.
  • delete from same folder to remove a custom texture/decal.
  • you will be able to use any PNG in any Flags or Agencies folder from within GameData as custom window color/decal and stripe texture.

show with temporary IVA. you need RPM (TransparentPod Module) and NohArksPnP (IVA) for this to work.

sure beams in vacuum aren't realistic. but it looks nice. engines has proper FX now, also reverse thrust for towing. Best part is Lo-fi's wizardry that shifts the engines around the center allowing you to shift CoT on the fly.

also MM extensions for various mods... mostly visuals and customization options. some will get extra functionality later.

It's looking stunning :)

I love the beams, they really add something. I think it ought to be possible to script changing their opacity depending on the atmospheric density, so they could be quite subtle where there isn't so much for light to reflect off, and more pronounced with stuff in an atmosphere to bounce off. Damn you, giving me more ideas! :D

Working on the engine code, I'll get back to you over the weekend with an update.

ahahah. wait till you see this other thing!

don't worry about the beams. I'll lower the opacity a bit more. little too much at the moment. What would really be seks is true IK with upTargetNodes.

Hehe. What threw me is the pic in the showcase which seems to show some colour.

I've just issued an update with a dedicated plugin for the engine movement, plus source code. More plugin updates to follow, but that brings it up to matching the plugin posting rules :)

Actually, one itty bitty tiny little nit to pick:

The Thread, and the entry on [Moderator removed defunct website link] is called "Space Tug", the directory in the zip file is named "OrbitalTug"...

Any chance to unify those two names so we go with only one of them? Preferably just rename what's inside the zip?
