Skylab

Recommended Posts

Well, considering it was the first space station by the United States, I've decided to recreate it in KSP.

IF IT ALREADY HAS BEEN MADE PLEASE INFORM ME ASAP

Planned Features

  • Assorted Science
  • Internal Cockpit
  • Hi-Res Texture and Model
  • Life Support Compatibility

Here is a rough model of the station, Note that it does not have any significant detail yet.

That's a pretty darn good model!

Suggestion - make an alternate set of parts for an undamaged Skylab, as it was planned. That way people could play out lots of alternate history scenarios. If you're really confident and optimistic in your modding skills, model the damaged Skylab (as in real-life) but make the solar shade EVA deployable and required in order to make the station habitable and fully functional. You could even make the one surviving solar wing require EVA deployment (the "windmill" arrays on the Apollo Telescope Mount deployed properly).

mother of god, I'll leave this to you denny since you already have the model, but if you need assistance in programming, I'm always here.

i have it for 2 months i guess...

but i'm HATE texturing more and more (because i'm very bad painter, i found myself in 3Dmodelling but cant find a way for drawing, and all my own textures are poor enuff) so, despite the model is ready, it is nontextured for months and can't be released

and of course, i have some needs and ideas about plugins (programming)

for example a plugin adding an ability to run an animation while staging event occured?for example we have an item with animation module and it has its own icon, and we can place this icon in the desired location in stages listing and it will be activated when the staging event happens and the animation starts. or calling animation of one part from another part.

The first part I modeled for KSP was actually Skylab, something I called "Kerlab", but I didn't focus that much on recreating real one 100% but on modularity, so that if you wanted you could make the real one, but otherwise, all the parts are modular and you can easily make whatever else you want. The parts were really big (5m), and in some parts, you could get inside with Kerbals.

the separator part, which also divides into 4 corner parts:

the airlock with which you can move between inside and outside:

if you stacked the parts this is how it'd look from inside:

However, I never finished or published it. I can send you the models though, but they are really primitive comparing to what I do now =) Also, I am not sure modularity is your goal, but recreation of the real one, so I doubt my models might help.

Can i have those parts?
