I guess you probably want a different type of rollcage for what you want to do, Madrias? Something that stacks would fit well with the stuff Electronicfox is about to release.

That's a pain, Gaalidas. TS has been working fine for me, but I haven't updated in ages.. Best to consider the ERS wheel experimental at best. I'll have a look, and will fix the tread, but it's been behaving in my limited testing after fixing the plugin.

gnihihi we are here to haunt you lo-fi :) my english is not in best shape regarding your last thematics, is it possible to have some sort of visualization?

Haha! Oh dear...

We've been talking about the little roll cage I posted a screencap of in post 2785, and the dust emission based on CollisionFX by pizzaoverlord, though I don't have a screen grab handy of that I'm afraid

Bah. Pizza whateverhisnameis came up with the concept, and the original code, but I made it fabulous.

Anyway, I'm still investigating TS. I'll get it sorted eventually. The ERS wheels could be due to some screwup in my MM config. Still worth a look.

So, what is electronicfox about to release, lo-fi?

Electronicfox is about to release parts that fit well into stacks, in fact he released the first batch of prototypes yesterday. (excuse me for linking my stuff here) http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/123273-Discreet-Aircraft-Parts-Prerelease-available-for-download

Talking about yourself in the 3rd person is never a good sign :P

And I thought I had a high opinion of myself. You're going to need some struts on that head if you intend on going to space today.

Just had a look at that thread and I'm looking forward to playing with those. Just need to get back to my PC. I'm on a phone now.

You guys crack me up. You're always welcome to plug your work, electronicfox :)

Gaalidas, I'm going to rip the DustFX module apart and rebuild it. We can do even better. I'm going to make it superfabulous (man, that sounds really camp).

Anyway, I've separated the plugin into its own GitHub repo - it will make things much easier going forwards. From now on, this is how I will distribute source, so no more SRC folder in the download.

That sounds rather... violent. At least copy the sources you intend to rip apart first. I've kinda grown fond of those files. I mean, considering what I started with, getting this far is quite the accomplishment as it is.

Well, it would be if it wasn't for the fact that I actually didn't write any of it on my own. Okay, fine... rip it up... lets see what makes this thing tick... and then make it scream!

I disturb myself sometimes.

Electronicfox' head is inflating just like his envelope, guess there gotz sumtin wrong with exporting...:D

The voices in my head say this will be awesome...

Another thing: what about combining your mods for one part i ever wished to have in KSP: a retractable track landing gear, like the transport plane whateveritsname...

Shh, you've stumbled upon something I had planned...dont tell anyone.

Nah, as long as i got to post something in someones thread for improving, derailing or suggestioning, head deflation wins :D Whatever, is there a chance to see a landing gear like that in your mod? I like the behaviour of your wheels, tracks - ground movement tools; i will look for the RL source if you cant get a picture by now.

I know which tracks you mean. Some prototype things from an old cargo plane I believe. It is something I want to do, with a few other discreet parts. I just need to decide the best retraction methods, along with a nice container that wont bulk out too much, nor clip into other parts too much. (My mod is going to become less discreet aircraft parts, and more discreet everything).

Yeah, maybe you can borrow some source stuff of lo-fi, if he is willing to do. Gotta be a nice aligned design thingy and you dont have to bother with painting the textures all by yourself.

Sorry for derailing a bit lo-fi.

The plugin side is already dealt with. Many things happen behind the scenes.

Yes, we know we are awesome. It's an awesome way of existing.

Don't worry, Gaalidas, I'll be gentle.

Funny you should say that, Tyren...

Uh oh... I both hate it and love it when lo-fi says something along those lines.

Sorry if this is answered in the last 282 pages (I looked back a bit)... but is it intentional that these parts are, to all intents and purposes, indestructible in collisions and immune to structural failures (or, perhaps, do the KF modules impose their own failure modes)? I appreciate that KSP doesn't distinguish a glancing blow on the bottom of the tracks from a head-on impact at the same speed, which makes it tricky to set a crash resistance figure (Ferram's Better Buoyancy does something about this for water impacts).

Yeah, quite a lot of thread to go through - thanks for trying! No impact damage or overspeed implemented yet. As they're not driven with the stock modules, it's not something they automatically inherit, unlike many other mod wheels. I think if I do, it'll be something like increasing the rolling resistance the more damage they take, rather than flat out breaking, sticking in the floor and flipping the whole rover over at the slightest hint of a bump. Or something like that anyway.

Landing gear tracks are going to be awesome, electronicfox! I'm thinking about writing a plugin module to allow changing the angle they sit at, a little like Bahamuto's. The rest is all there ready to rock.

Would there be any harm in decreasing the existing crash resistance and structural/torque failure figures? It seems faintly absurd that one can slam them into the ground at orbital velocity without consequences.

I'm asking not for a second bite on the suggesting cherry, but "if I do this in my own game, do you know that something unexpected will happen"?

I'm not seeing a way to determine what version I currently have installed. No .version file, no version in the readme, etc. Linux cannot find the version in the properties of a DLL file.

Perhaps later updates could contain a .version for AVC.
