Is the VAB a simulation for blueprints?

So today me and super (Yes, That super.) were playing KSP with Steam voice chat,

Then he saw Wherher Von Kerman and a couple of engineers go through a rocket and a bus-truck thingy.

I told him that maybe the VAB like the matrix-like simulation in the R&D where they make blueprints for rockets,

And that the real VAB is where they use those blueprints from the R&D simulation to look at the blueprints

then make the rocket.

super said It explained why It was always daytime in the VAB.

What do you think?

It's always daytime in the VAB because it technically is a separate dimension that isn't physically connected to the actual game world. The "outside" is just a static picture.

... Why is the grass dying around me all of a sudden?

Nope, the engines are just so soft you can walk through them until they bake the rocket in an oven. As for the daylight, that's just a backlit poster to cheer crew up. This is the reason you can't see craft outside.

and the reason the orientation of the craft in the VAB is off by 90 when you launch it, compaired to what you'd expect from looking at the poster.

It's not the rockets that aren't solid, it's the kerbals wandering around. They are ghosts, ghosts of all the kerbals you've killed, haunting you while you build another rocket to kill more kerbals. WwwoooOOOOooooooOOOOOooooOOOOOOoooo..

and the trucks are ghost trucks. you heard me, ghost trucks. it's the only logical explanation.

Who is Super, and why is it important for the op to be known by him?

(honestly, i dont get it. Scott Manley, yes, thats a householdname, but "super"? I know Frank, Christian and Eleanor but who wants to know this, and why? :)

Was it ever "railed"? It's a silly thread discussing the possible unreality of a location in a video game. Not that that's a bad thing, silly threads are sometimes entertaining and fun.

What if Kerbal isn't a video game?

Actually, the Kerbals know that the players are bad at building ships so, they put on clipping suites that way they don't get hit when you are whipping parts around the VAB,

yes this is a perfectly true explanation.

Yeah, kind of, I suppose. ;)

On topic (ha-ha!)

I do think that Internal space of VAB and SPH is at the state of closed loop time-space continuum. There is obviously some time movement, but it looks like just outside of construction zone (where all trucks are driving) the time is looping infinitely. Trucks just keep going in circles. So, effectively VAB and SPH are encapsulated time-space bubbles, that allow Kerbal engineers to construct and prepare rocket for launch in no time, as well as revert vehicle construction to some specific moment in time.

I do think the latest Kerbal Comics comic #31 "Future Echoes" describes it all very clearly.

P.S. BTW, looks like Kerbals are very good at time control technologies. All these warps, reverts and quicksave-quickload features... Who may have guessed...

P.P.S Looking at Dark MultiPlayer mod, it looks like their technology is progressing with time-subspace management and resupplying missions over 4-th dimention - time. Wow. Isn't it impressive?
