Instant Performance Boost

I find it does give me a significant performance whack, where part count doesn't. I'd absolutely agree with the OP; especially when you have, say, a bad 'accident' on the Mun or the like and you've suddenly got 200 debris.

Setting it to 25 or so isn't a bad idea at all. It's few enough that it's easy to clean up.

After the next release though, recovering stuff saves you kredits! No parts ejected anywhere but on Kerbin, with chutes :P Cuz I'm a cheapskate.

*pets his i5* Persistent debris never really affected my game. mwuahahahah

Out-of-physics-range orbital debris had an impact on the performance of my i7 laptop. The 3/5/7 by itself is meaningless without a clock speed :P

That thing was 2.4Ghz, so not exactly brilliant.

I have an I7@4Ghz, 24Gb RAM@1600 and a GTX 570 and debris slows down my game. I just need a couple of hundred debris parts and it`s like I have a few hundred more parts on my craft...

Laptops are never as fast as desktop hardware..anyway my 4.7 ghz i5 has no problem with persistent debris. :v

Funny thing is my laptop helped me figure out that the persistent debris was causing the problem.

I installed the game fresh on that laptop and copied over my large 600+ part spaceship and was amazed/perplexed at the fact that it actually performed better than my better desktop pc. After looking into it I realized the only difference was all the persistent debris. (I only have a couple of satellites and bases.)

25 is great for me, cleaned it up and I still get post launch debris I can either recover or ignore. (I figure I'll be doing a lot more recovering when the budget update comes out.)
