I'm not gonna lie. I cried.

I once had a lovely chicken. Before she died, she laid some eggs. Out of one of the eggs, a chicken almost identical to her hatched. It had similar coloring and the exact same personality. Yay?

Oh so chickens can get respawns but I can't?

I dont care for a dog, when you look in the news there are much better reasons to cry...

You're missing the point. This is not about rationalization. Yes, there are way worse things in the news at the moment, just look at what's happening in Middle East, but this is about provoking an emotional reaction while reading and watching the photos.

A healthy person should feel at least some sorrow. That means his/hers brain responsible for empathy works fine.

Because its made to make you cry im not falling for it. It just reads like someone wants to get as much attention as possible (i wanted to say like buzzfeed, but then i remembered where this was from xD).

Guys, animals are just beasts. They are not human and can't have emotions. People die every day in hospitals and do you run there and cry about it every day?(guess the reference)

That's incredibly stupid and ignorant what you just said.

Emotions are governed by lower brain centers. Even crocodiles display emotions - anger and rage. They can't display rational thoughts or love because they lack the specific brain matter we have.

Mammals such as Hominoidea (apes) and Cetacea (whales, dolphins, ...) have extremely well developed additional emotions, relative to Mollusca and Arthropoda, for example.

Happiness, joy, excitement, sorrow, it's all detectable in gorillas, dolphins, etc.

True, humans have stronger emotions and rational thought, so they can elaborate it. They can write a poem or paint a picture.

You, too, have missed the point whackjob was trying to make.

We lost both our dog and cat this year, cat in January, dog in March. It was sad, we grieved for a little while, but we moved on. Now we have a new dog and cat. That's how it works with pets.

And I do have to agree, to a certain extent, with SpaceXRay and Elthy. To paraphrase Stalin, 250,000 people dead in Syria is a statistic, but one dog dying of cancer is a tragedy.

Ah, great, now I'm gonna be sad all day. It reminds me a lot of a dog I lost once, and the fact that this dog looks just like my old dog doesn't help.

To the people saying that it doesn't matter: It's called a heart. Get one.

No... Just... No... Get your anatomy right.

Dammit, now i am thinking of my previous dog that sadly passed away in his prime of his life by drowning, not bursting out in tears, but i have allready that chunck upon my throat. Good thing my current dogs allready sitting next to me cheerfully cheering me up, eager to go on the next walk while they still catching their breath of the walk we just came back from.. (dogs will be dogs)

like some said "Dogs are too good for the world, which is why we only get them for a little while. "
