Do I have a problem?

I suppose the question is better said as "Who else is like this?"

I keep seeing people posting the amount of time they've spent playing KSP: "100 hours," 1000 hours," etc. I look at mine, and it says 53 hours. I've been playing KSP relatively consistently since .13, and even considering the time not accounted for before it was added to Steam, I feel like 53 hours is really low for how much I enjoy the game.

The main problem is that once I discovered mods I've done mostly "preparing" my game with mods. It's a problem I've had with a lot of moddable games: I learn how to mod a game, become a extremely mod-heavy and then by the time I have my mods in place I've burned myself out of the game. The same thing is happening with Kerbal Space Program. I cannot play without mods, and for the past month I've been deciding what I want to do with the game, what mods I want and (most of the time spent is this) editing textures of space suits to specifically fit the space program I want to make.

I don't know, I've probably spent 150 hours on modding Kerbal Space Program, and I just feel like with all the joy and time spent KSP has brought me the number should be much greater. I suppose it isn't a problem if I'm enjoying the time I spend on the game outside of the game. Perhaps I'm obsessing too much over a number.

i can VERY much relate to this. Sometimes i get all amped to play, go to update mods and check for something new, spend an hour or two getting things set-up - Start KSP, close KSP since i forgot to install the last mod i downloaded, Start KSP - Cant be bothered....

I can relate to this A LOT too. This was exactly me during 0.23.5. I spent DAYS prepping my game with mods. When 0.24 came out I finally forced my self to actually PLAY the game and now I am enjoying it a lot. If you get burnt out, just take a break for a while like most people do, or maybe just try what I did. :)

Yea, I do this with Skyrim

I'd spent hours upon hours browsing through mods, and than when I have a crapton, I'm not in the mood to play

Or I would play, find a new mod that requires a new save, play, find a new mod, repeat, and never get anywhere with the game (but I'd have some great mods).

Yesterday I deleted Skyrim to make room for something else. There was 6 gigabite of mods left in the folder after the vanila game was gone

Absolute number of hours doesn't matter, it's what you do with those hours that matters. There's no prize for having a lot of hours logged.

If the number really bothers you, open an instance of KSP and leave it running 24/7 in the VAB or something to run it up.

It's not really the number that bothers me, it's more that I've spent so much more time working on KSP mods than actually playing.

That's really a matter of what you enjoy. Playing with the game can be as much fun for some as playing the game itself. You don't have a problem. :)

Maybe if all you want to do is change the game, you might not actually enjoy it very much. The only mod I use is the one that adds clouds. I'm not bored with vanilla after 1800 hours.

That's quite a leap. Someone mods games a lot = they don't like the game.

I've been making changes to the Kethane mod and also trying to get on top of the lifesupport and karbonite mods with an interest to tweak them but I get time to work on the mods but end up opening ksp and playing the game itself and never get time to work on the mods!

May l know that do you play auto pilot? Could you descript your 1st Mun landing?

Base on your answer we might have a clue how are you going.

I'm sorry, I didn't comprehend the majority of that post. I'm guessing if you're asking if I use autopilot. No. I'm not saying I'm inexperienced or bad at the game.

My first Mun landing was in .13 with tail fins as landing legs.

Are you actually suggesting that the modders don't enjoy the games they mod?

They love the game even MORE than most of us, or they wouldn't be spending so much time trying to perfect it

Pingonaut, what do you mean by "prepping" your game for mods? I assume you mean researching mods, reading about them here, or developing them? I use a growing list of mods, and while I do spend some time reading about them here, most of my KSP time is spent playing the game. Maybe it's time just to fire up the game, enjoy the mods you have now, and have fun?

Mostly editing them, testing them, finding new ones, repeat. No, it's not time to do that, trust me. I'm clearly not alone as a modder like this.

I've probably spent 100+ hours on Kerbal and had just started messing around with mods. But nothing like a few of the numbers I've seen around. That probably just indicates a healthy respect for time :)

I disrespect time like a teenage girl disrespects her parents.

Problem is every time you actually sit down the play the game, you realize a tiny part of the game that could be changed a little bit.

And than you tab out to go find a mod for that

I used to make models and mods for Skyrim all the time, most of my playtime was testing. Still have not finished that game, then again I did enjoy modeling and modding. So far I've kept myself from doing this with KSP, but I can feel the itch. I guess it just comes down to if you are enjoying yourself it doesn't really matter.
