Hello! I joined the forums because I really enjoy the polite, helpful, and friendly posts.

About a month ago I was talking to my son about a feasibility study on the mining of asteroids. I showed him a spreadsheet I made that demonstrated how water could be recovered from near earth objects at a fraction of the cost of lifting it from orbit.

He said, "Popa, you have to get KSP. It uses real rocket physics. You will really love it." He then helped me get a steam account and used one of the gift cards I have been buying him to download the game.

I have been addicted since. I have been playing with an old celestial mechanics guide that had a chapter on orbital mechanics, and my spreadsheets.

I'll be playing this game for years. This is the first game forum I've joined, but I wanted to say hello.

personaly, it took me about a week to get into orbit, then I got a little frustrated, but I kept on playing, and once I reached orbit, it was all easy. that was in october, and since then I have landed on every planet and moon except dres.

Well, MOSTLY real rocket physics. Drag is a little draggier than it should be and rocket fuel consumption scales with Isp instead of rocket thrust scaling with Isp.

But still fairly realistic. If you find any area of reality lacking.... there's a mod for that. (usually)

SorryDave, this game is awesome in what is considered Vannila , but check out some of these Mods to allow for more parts and features. After playing for a few days in vannila and then realizing how easy mods can be intergrated, I found and used these three: KAC, KER, Chatterer. Features such as Kerbal Alarm Clock KAC, Kerbal Engineer Redux KER, add some important tools, but Chatterer just adds humour-atmosphere. This game has had my attention since June and by Krakken it wont let go. And remember if you are going to crash please do so responsibly.

I tried a bunch of mods and have a whole separate folder for trying new ones out. I have many things still to try in vanilla. I am "saving" mods for later with the exceptions below.

It did not take long before I added KAC after watching an explosion on the map view from a return trip from Minmus.

I am also addicted to KER, which I use for building. I deleted the flight parts after playing with them a bit. I also use OrbitHud as it makes setting up orbits a little easier.
