So after further testing... It seems its just buggy regardless. I don't even need to crash it for it to bug out. I removed the Hullcam mod, but still getting the same issue. I'm going to leave it for now.

This is happening to me as well, exactly the setup mentioned by Xyd. I did notice my log is being spammed with this (or similar) message:

It's being spammed all the time, but the moment where I crash the vessel into the ground is here:

Followed by this error a few seconds later:

I'm stumped for what could be causing this, but I'll keep testing.

Yeah, that's probably going to need to go to the RemoteTech thread, I suspect. The MRS Guidance cone is a pretty simple part, since it's just a nose cone that happens to also be a probe core. I have some basic antenna settings and the like in their for RT to use, but they're pretty old. I can update them if I need to. But otherwise, this sort of behavior can't come from an otherwise stock-ish part, and the log spam is coming from RT it looks like.

hey, if i don't want any of the MRS tanks (because your FTP does the same, only better :)), is it safe to just delete the Fuel Tanks folder within Parts folder in its entirety? Thanks!

Wow, a case of KSP being more fault tolerant than you'd expect. Yep, that's a copy/paste mistake, but seems to still work in-game. I'll fix it.

An error message from CKAN --- Failed to download "https://spacedock.info/mod/86/Modular Rocket Systems/download/1.12.7" - error: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

I think the spaces between 'Modular Rocket Systems' should be removed :)

Clicking the download button on the spacedock page also 404s, so either failed upload or spacedock issue?

It's working now, so it was probably a temporary problem.

Still 404 from here, even after cache clear and incognito browsing shenanigans, so I'm upgrading my guess to "cdn issue" and I'll just wait then.

Yes, since CKAN gets the file from SpaceDock, as long as the SpaceDock link doesn't work, the CKAN download won't work either. It is still not working at present, but perhaps the problem will be found and corrected soon :)

Same problem. Even if I hit http://cdn.spacedock.info/NecroBones_209/Modular_Rocket_Systems/ , there is no 1.12.7 zip there. Only prior versions.

You can bypass this problem temporarily bydoing this:

1) Tick off "Refresh modlist on launch" checkbox in CKAN settings, then close CKAN.

2) Open registry.json with text editor like Sublime Text, Atom, Notepad++.

3) Find and replace "https://spacedock.info/mod/86/Modular%20Rocket%20Systems/download/1.12.7" with "http://ksp.necrobones.com/files/ModRocketSys/ModularRocketSystem-1.12.7.zip".

4) Launch CKAN and install updated MRS mod. DO NOT CLICK Refresh button as this will roll back your edits in step 3!

5) Tick back on "Refresh modlist on launch" checkbox in CKAN settings.

MRS Parts are great.  This is really an awesome mod.  I have a suggestion re the Radial Controller Panel.  It starts off without SAS but later in the tree there's an identical one but with SAS.  It would be better, I think, to make that an upgrade.  Once you have SAS you'll never use the non SAS version again, and it's exactly the same part. Just one less thing in the hangar and less saved spacecraft to update.

Yeah, it's set up that way to avoid dependencies on other mods. Stock parts don't have internal upgrades.

I come bearing gifts! Nertea's Near Future Electrical has an Optional Extras folder with a little patch in it for adding decay to RTG's. It basically replaces the Stock Generator, with a decaying generator. Anyway, I made a patch for the MRS RTG.

In his example patch, the half life was always 8.35 and EasyMode always True. BasePower is equivalent to Rate in the Stock Generator. I haven't had a chance to use the module yet in game, so I can't attest to it's functionality. Thought you might like it, feel free to use or not.:)

Me again chief. Nothing too exciting this time. Just looking at the "MRS Guidance Nose-Cone" (which I noticed you recently bumped up in the tech tree). I hate to lead the "Balance Brigade" but I compared it to the Remote Guidance Unit (1.25m), which I think is a good match, and it just blows it out of the water.

  • Tech Levels: Engineering 101 vs Advanced Unmanned
  • RX Wheel: 1.0 vs 0.5
  • Cost: 900 vs 2250
  • EntryCost: 0 vs 17800
  • SAS: Level 0 vs Level 3 (RGU wins this round)
  • ElectricCharge: 100 vs 15

If you want my recommendation, it's nose cone shape makes it niche to begin with, but I think it has a place with the RGU units. As it is, it upsets the progression from Sputnik --> Octo quite violently.

I think 0.625m & 2.5m  versions wouldn't be amiss, but those are easy enough for users to make (I have). I also boosted the RT antennas somewhat (which I was glad to see).

Note: I've moved everything to the beginning of the tech tree anyway, so I don't really care too much about the progression aspect. But considering this pack is supposed to be cleaving close to stock values, I thought you might be interested in the numbers.
