[0.90][WIP] Kerbal Konstructs v0.6.6 (Dec 16) - Static Objects and Launch Sites!

v0.6.8 available from KerbalStuff.

Changelog:

  • Fixed the bug where all upgradeable facilities were maxed out when starting a new career game.
  • Black magic was involved. If you encounter a bug or your computer explodes, buy a new computer and then come and let us know here. Please note we are not responsible for exploding computers.

Just a quick heads-up that I'm aware of this latest version causing some additional video lag/FPS loss in the vicinity of the KSC. This is a result of the fix for upgradeable facilities and I'm already working to deal with this side-affect.

Ah, so that's what it was... I'd updated TR, DOE and added back in SpaceShuttleEngines at the same time as updating KK (bad practice, I know) and I did wonder why my editors were running at 12 FPS :D

Just a quick clarification needed - if the fully upgraded bug only occurs on new saves, it's fine to keep the previous version of KK and not update if I install it to an existing save? The update is only fixing a bug that occured on new saves, right? Because while I do love KerbinSide, I love my FPS more and the previous version was fine on my end.. I mean, once you get the lag issue sorted and a new release done, I'll install that, but for now.. the previous version's fine? (yes I know I'm rambling, sorry Chief)

v0.6.9 available from KerbalStuff.

Changelog:

  • FPS loss/video lag in editors and in flight around the KSC, that was caused by the last bug fix, eliminated.
  • The fix now only checks for initialisation of and initialises the upgradeable facilities in the Space Center scene, not all scenes.

Changelog:

  • Upgradeable facility initialisation should now only happen once at the start of a career game. Video lag in the Space Center, Administration and Control scenes that was caused by this is now gone.
  • NGS display orphaned from Base Boss. You still use Base Boss in the flight scene to switch NGS on and off but the display is not dependent on the Base Boss window being open.
  • Instance Editor size tweaked again. The delete button kept vanishing off the bottom.

  • Upgradeable facility initialisation should now only happen once at the start of a career game. Video lag in the Space Center, Administration and Control scenes that was caused by this is now gone.
  • NGS display orphaned from Base Boss. You still use Base Boss in the flight scene to switch NGS on and off but the display is not dependent on the Base Boss window being open.
  • Instance Editor size tweaked again. The delete button kept vanishing off the bottom.

Appreciate all the quick updates.

I understand that you may be busy with the holidays (and I've already fixed the problem myself), but there is no .version file included with your newest release of Kerbal Konstructs and AVC is yelling at me to update (even though I have) :P

I'm having a lot of CTDs.

I just installed this and Kerbinside, and successfully launched a rocket from KSC2. I then bought Wehrburry's Claim and tried to launch a plane from there and the game crashed. Upon reloading, and trying to launch again to Wehrburry's Claim the VAB locked up and all GUI buttons woudln't work. I alt-f4'd, loaded again, and tested a 3rd time and got Wehrburry's Claim loaded with my plane.

I launched, and due to my poor skills had to ditch and retry. On retrying, I got not only a CTD but one of those "your game crashed, here's a crash zip package" messages.

I uploaded the contents of that directory (Including the output_log.txt) to [defunct site link removed by moderator]

You ran out of memory.

dude! this is sorcery!!!

I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was causing my lag at the space center.

Got a question though,

I found out that there is no lag when I have 0 flights, the lag only exist when there are flights in the save. Why and how is it affecting the problem?

Actually, that's KSP at work, nothing to do with KK chap. The lag caused by KK was a consequence of the persistence file being parsed every frame. Which was bad. I fixed that. The lag you describe might be the extra draw calls for the extra statics but *shrug* not sure. More likely, KSP is doing a little extra work tracking craft at KSC. I would be totally unsurprised if ALL the craft's parts are 'active', regardless of it just being that little floaty icon.

Argh crapsticks. I really hate AVC sometimes. I'll sort this for the next update.

Is there more information on adding your own static objects?

If you mean making your own models, there's a sub-forum dedicated to that. If you mean some kind of manual or guide to using the KK editor then yup, I've done a couple in this thread. I'll go dig out the posts.

Hi, I'm having some problems, they seem to be partially coming from kerbal constructs.

I get a lot of this when I switch to any map view, also things during flight mode.

I'm also seeing the KK icon in the VAB whited out.

Here is an output log from the last time the game randomly closed, and a crash report. I hope this is useful.

Try the updated (released) version.

EDIT: Also, remove ModStatistics. That was last updated for 0.24, having an incompatible mod around can't help things. And update SCANsat. Actually, you know what, just update all your mods. A large majority of them are old and are built for a different version of KSP than 0.90.

That seems to have calmed things down, KSP is running a lot more happily now. Thought I'd updated my mods, apparently not.

But I'm still not getting the icon working:

It's either ATM munching the icon or KK hasn't been installed correctly and can't find the texture for the icon.

ATM configs are posted in the OP of the new release thread. If KK has been misinstalled (typically, by digging it out of the medsouz folder where it has to be), hard-coded pathing won't find the textures.

Could a moderator please lock this thread?
