I'd love to see a survey of planets to see HOW people like them, like so:

Yay Meh Boo
[ ] [ ] [ ] Kerbin
[ ] [ ] [ ] Mun
[ ] [ ] [ ] Minmus
<and so forth, for all planets and muns>

(Yay being like, meh being indifferent, boo being don't like)

I happened to pick Vall this time since it usually doesn't get much love, even though I generally prefer Minmus and Pol. For me, the list would be like this:

Yay: Eve, Minmus, Duna, Laythe, Vall, Pol

Meh: Moho, Gilly, Kerbin, Mun, Ike, Jool, Bop, Eeloo

Boo: Dres, Tylo

And if you broke it down with more options (standard 5-point selection), it would look something like this for me:

Yay: Minmus, Duna, Vall, Pol

Yay/Meh: Eve, Laythe

Meh: Mun, Ike, Bop, Eeloo, Kerbin

Meh/Boo: Moho, Gilly, Jool

Boo: Dres, Tylo (angry space potatoes!)

Nice survey, I liked the presentation of it. The results where interesting too, particularly the one about when you start your gravity turn. I (almost always) start turning at 5km, so it was interesting to see that that isn't the norm.

As a suggestion for a future survey; it would be interesting to see a comparison of the whole ascent profile up to orbit (although a bit harder to set the questions) and also what everyone's typical parking orbit is.

I guess you could do a poll that asks what degree you're pitched to at 5 or 10km intervals.

Thanks for drawing my attention to this. It was indeed an interesting read.

As far as gravity turns go I tend to start a turn at around 200m/s depending on the desired orbit height and payload weight.
