More landing gear

Hey Squad, can you make some more landing gear for aircrafts? Some of us like to make massive planes and small wheels aren't really going to cut it, I know you can attach them to girders and whatnot, but then it starts to look pretty stupid.

Yes. We really need bigger landing gear, girders look ridiculous.

With the effort they've recently put in to making new spaceplane parts this is something that hopefully will happen soon, in the meantime KAX and B9 has some nice longer legged landinggear.

If you're ok with settling for a mod with landing gear, I'm currently considering writing a tutorial for making landing gears and at the same time making one from scratch. Is there any shape or configuration that you have in mind?

Yep, it's time for some better options. Until there is an alternative solution in stock, I will continue using the landing gears from b9. Those let you toggle heatshields. Which is nice to improve the optics

You can also use tweakscale to beef up the stock landing gears. Not ideal, but it's done the job for me on occasion

What happened to the landing gears?

Unfortunately, the landing gears we said we had been working on were not ready in time for 0.90. We intend to implement them into the next update.

Bigger landing gears were planned for 0.90 but were pulled shortly before release. We should see them either in 0.91 or a patch for 0.90, presumably when squad are done with their holiday (source: the various forum threads/articles/... about 0.90's features)
