What mods do you want to be made part of the stock game?

Recommended Posts

Given the integration of SP+ into the stock game, it is not unreasonable to expect more exemplary mods to be integrated, so what mods do you think should be in stock given the following conditions:

-The mod must fit well with the current art style of KSP

-The mod must fulfill some sort of community desire that the devs have not ruled out (so no mechjeb)

The mods in my list are:

-Dmagic Orbital Science

-Kerbal Alarm Clock

-FAR/NEAR (just some sort of aerodynamics)

What are yours? Commonly mentioned mods I can put into a strawpoll so the devs can just look at it and go "Ah... so we should integrate the flying banana mod"... or hopefully not.

DRE

FAR/NEAR or something fixing the atmosphere

Procedural Fairings (related to one above)

Kerbal Engineer

Snacks! or something else that adds life support

Other than that....

Various mods adding sounds where they're missing (rover wheels, RCS, Chatterer mod)

Distant Object

Better Atmospheres / anything that adds clouds

RasterPropMonitor or anything adding screens to the IVA

And several other mods adding quite important gameplay elements, such as rebalancing tech tree, contracts, adding functionalities to the probes, adding range limitations to the antennas (AntennaRange mod), few functionalities from KAC would be good too, possibly Kethane pack (though I would change a lot in it before implementing that into the stock game),

Perhaps SatScan, simply because it adds plenty of fun with exploration after visiting the planet or moon, which isn't there in KSP right now.

What I would NOT want to see in KSP... B9 or other spam-me-with-random-parts mods, MechJeb, Achievements mod, Interstellar or any of the sci-fi (or as many people call them here: "near future") mods, various parts packs that look like taken from some other games (eg. USI Kolonization Systems which looks ugly as hell or SovietRockets mod which in no way fits any existing KSP ascetics), DangIt or Engine Ignitor, MechJeb, Kerbpaint... did I mention MechJeb?

Some of Near Future Technologies. A few of the big solar panels definitely, Gigantors look puny on large ships and stations. The structural stuff wouldn't hurt either, being basically bigger versions of the girders we have. The stock game could stand a bigger xenon tank or two as well as some of the beefy batteries. A maybe on bigger ion engines, but a no to the argon or hydrogen fuelled stuff or the nuclear reactors.

Most of Kerbal Aircraft Expansion. There's a propeller-shaped hole in the current game, especially with worlds to fly on where jets don't work. And so many people have asked for more landing gear options.

Navball Docking Alignment Indicator. Fits right in the stock interface and is effective.

I'd also like to see more comprehensive instrumentation, a la VOID, and some numeric manoeuvre node information/editing like PreciseNode offers, but for both of those the mod as-is isn't well-integrated into the stock UI. The same goes for most mods that aren't parts to be honest. FAR/NEAR, for example, do nice aerodynamics but have to kludge them into the game somewhat.

Procedural Parts, Procedural Fairings (with a proper stock aerodynamic), Deadly Reentry (but better), KAS, and some of Near Future Technologies, the solar panels and reactors from NFT are really awesome. And also, something that I really want in the game is something like VOID, it's perfect and doesn't take much space on the screen.

Mods I think the game needs:

VOID/Engineer functionality (ie delta-v and ability to see orbit statistics. This would also make IVA more viable.

Vanguard EVA chutes.

Kerbal Construction Time.

Kerbal Alarm Clock

Science Alert (especially for EVA reports in orbit.)

Scansat (specifically the Biome mapping)

Simple Part Organiser

Stage Recovery/Debrefund

Mods I would like to see, but probably just suit my personal idea of fun:

RemoteTech

Deadly Re-entry

Some kind of Life Support (I personally like TAC, but that may be a little involved. Snacks! would do)

Hmm lots easier to say mods that i dont want:

KSO, B9 or clouds (yes i know this is popular to be included but it takes almost a gig of ram(i think)) and other large mods that eat RAM

Snacks mod or any life support as most are very different and it kind of depends on how realistic you want it to be

Planet mods

Put simply any mod that uses lots of RAM, If you want it then install it yourself!

Better management and controls:

Mechjeb2

Ship Manifest

Kerbal Alarm Clock

Parts:

SCANsat

Kerbal Attachment System

Procedural Fairings

Physics and life support:

TAC Life Support

Deadly Re-entry

FAR

Assembly aids:

SelectRoot

EditorExtensions

More things to do:

FinePrint

Reading some of these suggestions makes me want to punch those people... But seriously... Adding stuff like Clouds or anything like that would be ofcourse great... If this game wasn't built on this gosh darn engine.. I mean common.. I was using Astronomers Visual pack or whatever its called and guess what? I had 40 Fps when I was near Eve, and when I landed on it as far as I remember my fps was fine. But whenever I zoomed out or looked at the map view... the whole game went from smooth to being 30-40 fps choppy-ness.. And whats even more sad about this game is that you can't even build a decently sized base or a space station without the game being unplayable.. I remembered I once had a small ship landed on Duna with not too many parts and I had a very tiny rover next to it and 7 to about 10 kerbals there in one spot.. and my game already started feeling un-smooth and when I checked my fps it was again.. 40-50 Fps (And this was in vanilla no mods...)

And I guess you would like to hear my PC Specs right?

i7-4770 (Non-K)

16 GB Ram

EVGA GTX 780 3GB

Funny huh? I know this game doesn't need a good GPU.. but an i7 and 16 GB's ram should be enough right? Apparently no.. Sometimes I wonder what this game could be like on a better or a custom Game Engine.. Think about it.. Atleast from a visual perspective it could've been with such good visuals and be smooth as well, I'm tempted to make a rendering of the game on a 3D Software so people could have a taste on how good this game could look... I don't know much about game development... But why choose Unity?

EDIT:

TL;DR. My point is that they shouldn't integrate more mods.. But instead Optimize the heck out of the game. I rather have a big Space Ship with over 1000 parts and have 60 FPS then anything else..

This can't be right, I can run 500 part space battleships with little to jo lag whatsoever, even though my computer ihas less RAM, a less powerful processor and a much worse graphics card. Also, if 500 parts isn't decently sized then I don't know what is, but I see you point with the cloud mods, they bring my game to a crawl at anything over 300 parts.

This may sound weird, but better hardware may not always mean better performance.. It depends on what kind of hardware that specific game or program was optimized for.
