How to record...

Personally I use Open Broadcaster for recording, Audacity for audio mixing, and AVISynth + VirtualDub for editing and final compilation. I don't recommend those latter programs unless you're a big fan of text-based interfaces and pedantically clunky controls, however.

If your GPU is supported, use ShadowPlay (Nvidia) or Raptr (AMD). These free official utilities allow to record games using GPU's built-in hardware encoder without any fps loss (~5% in the worst case). Otherwise use MSI Afterburner. It is also free.

Yeah i high recommend raptr, it can record with no loss of quality and you'll only lose maybe 4 fps.

Like most recording software though, the files get pretty big if you do that.

I do use open broadcaster, but need to edit my videos. the text based interface isn't my kind of thing.
