Imgur albums cropped

Don't know if it's the right place to ask, but I noticed all imgur albums are cropped recently (the bottom of the image is not visible unless you display it fullscreen, which is impractical to view all images). It used to work as far as I remember (the image was zoomed out to fit entirely). Is this a problem on my computer, a modification of imgur, or a problem related to the KSP forum ?

Yes this seems to be a problem with all the albums. Seeing as how imgur just made an update to their systems and regular html embedding of albums still works, this is likely an issue with the [imgur] tags on this forum that needs to be fixed. You should alert the webmaster/administrators to the issue so it can be fixed.

While we're at it could the people responsible extend the height of that tag a bit more? Images with a regular or widescreen aspect ratio should be visible without the huge side bars. It's just a waste of screen space, and it makes the images smaller for no good reason. It's unreasonable to have people click "view full resolution" so often.

I noticed this and indeed checked it earlier today. It's not working properly for me in Firefox, but works fine in Internet Explorer. The album embed code is also up to date. I'm afraid there is not much I can do from this end and the issue lies with imgur.

About the height of the album, I can take a look when imgur fixes their stuff. This album height is actually their default setting though and I don't think it's unreasonable to ask people to press a button on a website :)

Sure it is. It's not "pressing a button". It's pressing at least twice and having to close the tab afterwards, for each image you want to view. Most the albums on here that I've seen are full of screenshots, which obviously should be viewed as big as possible. Squashing them horizontally, only because there's not enough vertical space is just crazy. By the way I'm using a widescreen monitor so I'm probably more affected by this than some.

I've done a bit of HTML and CSS so I know it's doable for all sorts of screen aspect ratios and browser window sizes, but I don't know what restrictions you have to work with.

Now if you're talking about viewing in in full screen on their website, then that's fine, but it's not for everyone. I wrote my two texturing guides for example with the understanding that the reader will be able to scroll up and down quickly between the text and the album. Having to change tabs, and fullscreen the album everytime is also insane.

The restrictions are that imgur provides me with an iframe, it's not undoable to alter the size (see for example the [noparse][ytpl][/noparse] bb code for youtube playlists) but trying to mess with imgur's system while they're likely to change it to fix Firefox cropping the images is asking to have to do it again in the future. Personally I'd make the images work as a link to the full sized image, but that's something I cannot manipulate. Try tweeting to @imgur about that :)

Actually wouldn't it be easier to alt tab between the 2 then to scroll up and down? If you alt tab, the screen is still where you left

The behavior has changed recently, sal_vager. Albums still embed using the method you describe, but the bottom of the image is now obscured by the image selector, whereas before the image was framed above the selector.

Edit: Hmm, seems to be browser related, Chrome renders them fine while Firefox is a bit messed up.

I didn't think about opening a new window. Thanks. This works very well.

For Imgur albums, use the [imgUR ] [/imgUR ] tags and do not put the album image number in the tags or it'll be cropped.

Just do it right and all is good :)

What does this mean? Everyone says it should be

[ imgur]41bum[ /imgur]

and that's what I've been using.

Not for me

Same issue here, it is not working in Chrome, Firefox, AND Internet Explorer. Hope this is resolved soon, pretty much ruins albums.

Clearly the right response here is to complain about Microsoft's poor IE code :P

No but seriously, I Googled this quite a bit, and for several key searches, this thread is the only relevant hit. You would think a major imgur problem would be more prevalent, so I don't know if there's anything that could possibly be locally configured here that would cause it.

It is a little offtopic, but not completly, better to ask here then open new thread for this.

I would rather not to open account on imgur, since I already have accounts on other web sites, so I have tried to put image on my posts, but neither of following links worked:

I have used"[" "]" instead of "(" ")".

I'm noob to this forum and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks.

I use Dropbox for quick sharing of pics. Not sure how you're getting your links, but it works to right click the file and select "Copy public link". Embed that in the screenshot110.png[/noparse]

yields this:

But if I wrote like this:

[noparse]%7Boption%7Dhttps://www.dropbox.com/s/3rzno83jceedeql/SpacePlane_MK2_V8_low_res.png' alt='SpacePlane_MK2_V8_low_res.png'>[/noparse]

Picture is not shown at all, becomes broken. Above example looks like this:

SpacePlane_MK2_V8_low_res.png

Could be a reason that I'm new to forum and my posts still have to be aproved by moderators ? Btw, I checked with both, Firefox and IE, the same result. Funiest thing is that I can see other peoples pictures normaly in posts, but not my own.
