Johno
\'To protest SOPA, Wallstreet, our irresponsible leaders and the beloved bankers who are starving the world for their own selfish needs out of sheer sadistic fun, on March 31, anonymous will shut the Internet down,†the group stated last month.\'So they\'re responding to people starving the world for their own selfish needs out of sheer sadistic fun, by shutting the net down out of sheer sadistic fun. Yeah, that helps. That said, I seriously don\'t think they can do that much. The internet is designed to be highly survivable.

Capt'n Skunky
Wow, I can\'t believe anyone is taking this seriously. What they are proposing to do and how they propose to do it are laughable. It\'s highly unlikely they could pull this off. If this was possible, don\'t you think it would have been done already? If I had to take a guess at what this actually is, I\'d probably go for a false flag operation. Someone or entity (read:government) wants to give Anonymous a black eye. Remember, anyone can make a claim and say they are Anonymous because no one knows who they are nor do they have an official spokesman. There really is no way to verify any message is really from this group.Nothing will happen Sunday. Nothing at all. But anyone that does happen to have problems will blame Anonymous thereby generating animosity towards the group from the general idiot public. RC1062
Hey! \'Graham Cluley\'! My mum knows him!I seriously doubt any of this will happen. I wouldn\'t be surprised if it was as Skunky said. It could even be a troll...
Nooblet68
Apart from the fact this is just destined to fail as badly as my last KSP launch, it\'s overall stupid. SOPA\'s dead. They\'re protesting against something with no credibility which has near enough died anyway. Truthfully, it\'s too late for them to do this. Altair1371
I agree with Skunky. 1.) The plan will most likely only affect local areas, if even that.2.) SOPA is dead, and Anonymous isn\'t stupid, so I\'m calling false flag-flying here.

Kryten
...Anonymous isn\'t stupid...\'Anonymous\' is whoever wants to be known by that name. Most of these people are 10 year olds who\'ve downloaded LOIC and think they\'re 3L1T3 HAXXXORS. They don\'t need \'false flag operations\', they\'ve got more than enough idiots of their own. Radion
While its entirely likely that Anonymous will not be doing this, and if they do it will be localized, I have this message to Anonymous:Dear Anonymous, whomever you are,I would like to ask that you move your project 'Operation Blackout' from March 31st, Saturday, to April 4th, Wednesday. I have a project for GT due on Monday, and I need internet access over the weekend. Feel free to continue on Wednesday, provided it does not exceed Friday in blackout. I do hope you understand that SOPA is largely dead, and its sister bills have about the same chance of passing as a dead cricket does of jumping if the same reaction by the populace happens again. Your efforts to de-apathize many nations are valiant, but optimistic at best. Thank you, and if I am underestimating your abilities, please remember to change from Saturday to Wednesday, or at least avoid Southwest USA.-Radion Spaceworks

Fools.Arrr!Capt\'n SkunkySaturday, not Sunday.Here\'s the thing though, they never really revealed how they\'d attack the servers or disrupt the interwebs.I highly doubt they\'d make a claim like this and not have a near full proof way of following through, they aren\'t people to just make random claims and not be able to follow through.Which leads to my next point, if it was a random person pretending to be Anonymous, I would think Anon. members would speak up and say else-wise so they didn\'t look like fools for not following through. They don\'t have true leadership, but they do communicate and collaborate. They did have a public (online) interview with the Westboro Baptist church which shows they have some type of spokesperson, even if temporary. They operate on chaotic organization, similar to Taliban and other street fighters that we saw in Iraq/Iran. There\'s some level of leadership, but it\'s not very firm/stable, and intentionally so.You could also equate it to an organized swarm or riot. There\'s no \'true\' leadership, but all members are still striving towards a common goal.If someone falsified a boisterous claim like this, I feel Anon. would make a public statement denouncing this. However I am confused by their intentions.SOPA? This would be sticking TNT to a dead horse at this point. SOPA is done and over, congress members have turned against it.The only reason I can see them doing this would be to make a very large image/statement for themselves. Caesar15
If anonymous shuts down my internet for even one second, I will literally infiltrate them, organize a meeting and put a round in each one. Mob style. It\'d be sick. Think twice before doing this 'anonymous'. You have been warned by the internet loving people of this country...there totally gonna see that post.
