Community Mun Base 2.0

Recommended Posts

Suggestions On A Post Card:

My mentallity too calling it 'STOCK COMMUNITY BASE' is that we can fly too other airfields + the mun! 8)

Removing Mun, from the name seem neccessary.

A community airfield somewhere on Kerbin, where people can all park their spaceplanes? Sounds cool to me, especially if there was a runway out there to land on.

i know that the aircraftcarrier has a pack for it

(this is in spacecraft exchange as aircraft carrier)

Well, I know what you\'re talking about but it\'s not as good as I hoped..

maybe I could try to make my own runway.

veto has a mod to do that!

STOCK COMMUNITY BASE

This seems to be quite a challenging concept.

If trbinsc isn\'t able to maintain the Mod Community Base any more and no one else wants to manage it, I\'m willing to try to herd cats starting when 0.15 comes out.

I guess it\'s my turn now on the stock base? Or should everyone just wait until 0.15 now?

I\'ve been starting to kinda neglect this thread, as I\'ve been a lot busier with other things lately. If you want to take over, that would be great. I\'ll let Seanoog and you organize a new thread or whatever you want to do.

I decided that, since we don\'t know when 0.15 will come out, might as well keep flying. My attempt to land this thing using my laptop resulted in me falling through the Mun; trying again now on a better computer.

Success! Triad IX has joined the other craft at Landing Zone Bravo.

The Keographic Society should map these landing zones into the official maps of the Mun. If anyone has lat/long co-ordinates then we can make this happen.

Togfox, there\'s a persistence file attached to that last post - all 15-20 craft are stored in it and can be viewed in the map viewer to get the lat/longs.

Would you like too book another flight?

Mr_Orion Its now your go!

Please see the original Post for the latest information.

Are we going to reset the flight list when we open base 3.0 or carry over the current one? If we\'ll keep the list, sign me up.

I meant to rename it the Triad X because it carried the equivalent of 10 full-sized tanks. That makes it smaller, mass-wise, than the 13-tank one next to it - with a wider base on landing legs, so it\'s an easier landing, too.

I am starting the flight list fresh, with version 3.

Will be taking bookings in New thread only.

Also will be implementing new rules, reduced the amount of none contributes wasting time.

Stock, has close to 10 missed flights. 2 weeks roughly of waiting.

This is definitely something I will be signing up for when the update comes out!

Just curious, but will the Mun landing sites remain in the same locations? I\'d like to try a few practice runs to optimize my rocket and get an idea of the proper landing vectors (I\'ll be landing at the vanilla base :) )

I\'ll be watching for 3.0, and good luck to those who are going right now!

(and add me to the list, just in case I get the chance to go before the update comes out ;) )

As a community we will have too vote what landing zones we want.

Please give me your feedback...

Same as version 2.0 we only need 3~4 Landing Zones max.

Too add verity for different craft/plane an slight varying difficulty levels.

As for the new Flight List:

I am NOT taking bookings in this thread, when the new one is created.

Please feel free too flood me with requests then..

I like the multiple body base idea, plus with the new moon we could create a network between them since breaking free of either\'s SOI should be easier than Kerbin.

I would imagine 5 total landing sites would be reasonable.

Keep three on the Mun and an additional two on Minimus. Bonus points for landing on both! :)

An interesting idea.

I agree, that the Mun should have 2+, I like the idea of keeping LZ BRAVO + LZ CHARLIE, they are the hardest an most challenging, plus LZ ALPHA is soo plane on the platuea.

More can be added too the Mun IF needed later on!

Minimus, should have 2, but will only open with one, with another added once it gets crowded!

Kerbin, its self also serves as potential Landing Zones, with the introduction of Planes, Pilots can fly through Atmosphere or achieve low orbit (Rocket Assist) an fly round the planet easily,

making a far off hostile landing strip, or Pacific Base achievable! 8)

GOOMH, you have me a little confussed (Tired) by your meaning of Network?

Would players just land on one body, an leave the secound orbiting Mun, for another mission?

Certainly players, can slingshot of one, too gain momentum too the secound.

Propose Landing Sites, for STOCK Community Mun Base 3.0!

LZ ALPHA: Hostile KSC (On another Contenent) - Kerbin

LZ BRAVO: Hawaiian Island\'s (On another Content) - Kerbin (Initially undiscovered/Closed)

LZ CHARLIE: JEB\'s Crack - Mun Equator

LZ DELTA: BILL\'s Bottom - Mun South Pole

LZ ECHO: ELIZA\'s Plataeu - Minimus (Suggestions welcome)

LZ FOXTROT: - Minimus (Suggestions Welcome)

I kind of like (what I understand as) the network idea.

Land your craft at the Mun. When your next turn comes up... Instead of launching a new craft, move your first one to a different LZ!

For the Mod bases, I\'m going to try to get the second post on Seanoog\'s new thread once he\'s ready. I\'ll be using the original rules, with some changes depending on what stock\'s rule changes are. I might make it a rule that only one mod pack can be added per flight to keep the amount of packs people need to install under control.

We can use the same locations as stock, or different ones. Last time, the two initial LZs were just on opposite sides of the same crater, and I kind of like the idea of continuing that. But they don\'t all have to be 'joint sites'.

Proposed Landing Zones with difficulty ratings:

Kerbin Medium - Landing Zone Kilo, the other space center on Kerbin, same as stock. This could change if people don\'t want its location spoiled.

Mun Medium- Jeb\'s Crack, same as stock, but a few kilometers north or south.

Minmus Hard - Pit of Despair, to-be-determined rugged valley on Minmus. Or Pinnacle of Despair, a ridge in the mountains.

Minmus Easy - Lake of Broken Landers, small frozen lake just south of the main frozen ocean.

Should we have an easy target for the Mun as well to start? We will add a hard one on the Mun and Kerbin later, but we can start with just those plus maybe the Munar easy.

If anyone has suggestions for the Minmus Hard target - or for changes to these targets - let me know!

I was thinking of it as kinda of a psuedo supply mission. You\'ll first go to a Mun base and drop of an tank(could be used) then slingshot to Minimus and drop off another and either stay or go back to Kerbin and precisely land by a KSP. But now that I\'ve seen Khyron\'s idea I like that much more.
