Why is no one replying to my threads?

You have 39 total posts, there's no way you've both started a lot of threads AND commented on a lot of others' threads. :)

I've been here well over a year, and have started my fair share of threads. None of them have taken off and many have not gotten a single reply. It's the way forums work. If nobody's interested (or knows the answer to your question), nobody will post. I perused your posts and I couldn't think of anything to say on them.

I've been here two years come December (my profile doesn't show it due to the Apr 2013 Forumpocalypse) and my threads don't stay active for a terribly long time. Part of the reason is that I'm quite busy, but I also prefer to give my feedback rather than start a whole new discussion.

1/3 of the time a few post are made.

Almost 2/3 of the time nothing

The rest of the time it takes of great.

You've just got to have the right idea for a thread. Any links to the ones you've started?

Some of my own never got off the ground, but some... they're doing quite fine.

This one (Forum Veterans: What was your first post?) is an example. A good idea, in the right place, with a bit of luck so that it didn't get swamped by new threads being made/old threads being posted in.

EDIT:

There is also the fact that the more you post and the longer you've been here, the more authority you carry. (Or at least, the more people will be likely to click on your threads because they recognize your username )

EDIT2:

Probably my most successful one, in terms of views and replies, was my tutorial thread. Over 7,000 views and 30 replies. Link in signature, if you're interested.

forum games are another way. Although technically they don't count, it's nice to know that my game idea has carried 13,000 views and 600 replies. :) Rocket companies are another way if you get it to take off. Both starting a game and starting a rocket company will grant you a little respect in the forum. And the more respect you have, the more people will want to talk to you and hear what you wanna say and stuff. Like if 5thHorseman or RedIronCrown started a thread, no matter what it is people are likely to click on it. And opposite for an unknown name. You just gotta go with the flow till it's your time to stand out. :P

I dunno Endersmens, I've started my fair share of threads that get fewer than five replies. Not sure that "respect" has a lot to do with it (or maybe I don't garner as much respect as you think ;)). 5thHorseman's reply above would seem to indicate it's the same for him. Being known does not guarantee threads will be successful.

Subject matter is king. An interesting or controversial topic will get a lot of views and replies, no matter who posts it.

Please avoid view-baiting by having a non-descriptive title. A topic in Gameplay Questions titled "How do I..." will likely garner a lot of views if only because no one knows what the thread is about, but it's borderline trolling. Same with the occasional thread in suggestions with a title like "C'mon Squad" or "Get it together Squad" (both real titles I think), it's just being rude to get a response from the community.

Oh. Guess I'm too new to give advice on starting threads then.

I know it says i've been here for over a year but I had 20 posts until February. :P

StarWhip... Hum I still remember when he was still young and fresh and spent alot of time in the forum game section. Now he's all grown up :P

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
