Endurance from Interstellar?

Why not take this opportunity to model it and get it in-game yourself?

You have a computer capable of running KSP, that means you have a computer capable of making such a mod.

I'm not actually sure what you mean by that. I wasnt blaming anything on anyone. Apologies if it seemed that way.

Dude, he just said that you could try to do it yourself. Right now, you're actually telling him to go make a mod for you, because you can't be assed to do it yourself.

And where can we learn to mod for KSP?

I started by watching some introductory blender tutorials on youtube (blendercookie, a bunch of others) and just looking things up when I needed them. CFG files and unity are very intuitive. Texturing is... well, the people who get great looking stuff have skills, but you can make something look Not Horrible just by obeying some simple rules (texel density, noise, palettes).

None of this is very unique to KSP either.

There are always helpful folk on these forums if you ask nicely. They all learnt from somewhere.

I have some modelling experience already so I kinda skipped learning that part for modding, but beyond that usually just googling what you wanna do yields helpful results.

I was thinking along the same lines of making an Endurance, but using my Multipurpose Colony Modules mod as a basis. Anyway, here is a reference I found from space.com.

The way I see it, I'd use my existing colony modules as the main modules of my "Kendurance" spacecraft. Then all I'd need to do is build the angled pieces (probably straight pieces that bend once in space) and the central hub piece. Hm...

I loved the use of miniatures, they looked incredible.

Haven't seen the movie yet but it looks cool, and I think it would be possible to build an Endurance in KSP by combining it with RoverDude's OKS/MKS and my colony modules add-on. I think you could use sirkut's robot arms mod he's making to angle the parts that go in between the Mulitpurpose Colony Modules. So what you'd do is assemble a string of the modules and the bending connector pieces, then fire up the Infernal Robotics derivative, and bend the string into a circle.

I use MAX but yeah. The challenge for me is to make a docking port. I haven't done that before. The part would need to be no more than 2.5 meters long to keep with the diameter of the MCM. Well a bit more because the MBU is less than 2.5 meters wide. But it is doable after I get some accessories done.

I greatly enjoyed the movie. The spaceflight looked great. But... the spaceships themselves all looked ugly. I'm not sure why you'd want to replicate them ingame, when you can make something similar in purpose but much more stylish, like those cool spaceplanes earlier in this thread.
