Explain that to the insurance agency

Imagine that there is a Kerbal insurance agency, what this game is all about is explaining stuff to them in a way that might possibly convince them give you insurance money despite it totally being your fault. How it works is you put a reply from the insurence agency to the last poster's explenation, then you put how you would explain the scenario specified by the last poster, and then give a scenario for the next poster. Here are some examples:

I have color coated the statements so statements that refer to the same scenario and the scenario that they refer to are the same color. You don't need to use colors in your posts.

I spilled mustard on the altimeter, so I couldn't see what it said.

The Kuriosity rover breaks a wheel.

Poster 4:

And you didn't hire a substitute safety officer? We are not covering that.

Jeb somehow got into the control room and tried to jump the rover and set a new Duna land speed record.

Ummm... I'm going to sort of assume that the scenario is that my capsule got stuck in the mud and they were running out of oxygen.

It was like that when I got there.

Bad news about that capsule that got stuck. While trying to open the exit, the crew accidentally broke a window and filled the capsule with mud.
