Half my test contracts won't complete..?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so here is the issue I am running into: Most of my part testing contracts just do not work. I have tried to complete them every way imaginable; through staging, action groups, taking the cartridge out blowing on it and trying again (ok, not really that one..).

My buddy who also plays is sitting next to me doing the exact same contracts the exact same way and getting them to complete. So is this a bug or am I still doing something wrong? It's quite frustrating to say the least.

Are you testing them during the right conditions? e.g a lot of flying over Kerbin contracts require you to be within a certain altitude while going a certain speed range. If you open the contracts tab, are all the conditions marked with a green checkmark?

Well, most of the time you can also right click on the part and use the "Run test" option that will appear if it is a part being tested - that is what I do to save the staging headache. Note that while the option appears all the time, it only counts toward the contract when all conditions are fulfilled.

I do make sure all the requirements are met in the drop down panel, and I've tried right clicking to find a test option and there isn't any such as the small gear box test where it tells you to do that. I'm not sure what else to do..

This is the same old problem with remote troubleshooting ... we can't see what you're doing, so we can't see what you're doing wrong. Give us a specific part that you're testing and is failing to complete, walk it through in great detail (and pictures might help) and MAYBE we can point something out.

Im using the hydralic detachment manifold, I did all the requirements

kerbin

orbit

alt: 86700 to 91000

every single time i set it off it doesnt register that I did.

It should say how it needs to be 'triggered' in the contract details - normally it'll say that the part needs to be staged (hitting spacebar) for the test to run or you need to right click on it and choose run test as Xazh suggested. That way you'll know what avenue you have to look down to diagnose the issue.

If its staging make sure that its the next stage to fire when all the boxes are ticked then activate it by pressing spacebar.

If its right click-> run test - as Xazh suggested - right click on the part itself and there should be a run test option.

Also double check that its the right part (some are named very similar).

First thing to check is have you got green ticks by each of Kerbin, orbit and altitude in the drop down panel at the moment you're trying to activate it.

Second thing is that most parts need to be activated through the staging system (and I think that manifold is one of them). Triggering them through the right click menu will not work unless it's one of the parts which specifically says to "run test" rather than stage. You must activate them by pressing the space bar at the appropriate point. In the case of engines bear in mind this must also be the first time you activate them - shutting them down and then activating them again will not work.

MrCynical: for many parts that are supposed to be activated through staging, you can actually right click them after staging and click Run Test, or of course just stage them a second time by adding a blank stage. The Run Test thing doesn't work for everything though (SRBs are a notable exception). Radial decouplers are of course one of the cases where you do need to stage them - and get it right the first time.

I'm actually having the same problem as the OP, while some Tests are working normally, others don't seem to be. Triggering the part (Engines in my case) in staging with all green checks, and its not registering.

Check the contract - it might want you to use "run test" in the right click menu for the engine.
