Base Packages.

Does anyone have a single launch base package?

Could someone design one?

I think that it is a cool idea for beginner base builders.

Here is a rough idea: (I had to use hyper edit)

And after deployment: (The dots are different parts of the base.)

I have exactly that. It is definitely not for beginners, some assembly is required. But the dropship? The dropship is cool as boop. These here are dev pictures from the MkII 0.25 versions, but the old ones are in this thread (they are, BTW, my best sellers by far, almost 2k downloads each).

Old launcher, new shroud

Though it has almost the same modules, I packaged them so efficiently I could bring a bigger, stabler rover for base assembly.

And you bring stuff down to the target in this beauty, in atmospheric or non-atmospheric sites (I think, pending test, that it is Duna-rated, and also a SSTO):

What do you get when you put it together? Well, depends, but form this (old modules, single launch):

To this (parts from six different packs):

Yeah, so... does that count? :sticktongue:

Rune. Next one I upload, promise!

I have one. It's a Laythe base, with 3 modules, an orbital fuel lab, 2 SSTOs, two Rovers, and an RCS tug. Launches on a single rocket. The base itself is put together in Laythe orbit, then landed as one part, which is very tricky. Total part count is 1619, and weight is 7000 tonnes on launch. PM me if u want it.

I see you strapped your orbital tug onto the Cira IV?

Wow these are incredible!

You make mine look puny and insignificant!

Ok I really want that!

Who wouldn't?

The learning curve of this craft may or may not resemble a brick wall. Instructions not included, due to the fact that they would probably not make any sense. The part count is high enough to kill weak computers. Warranty void if computer dies while launching the product. The base requires assembly in space and deorbits as one piece; improper assembly voids warranty. The transfer stage is launched upside down, so make sure the engines are pointing the right way before you go.

Good luck :D

That is not so crazy, assembling in orbit where it's easy and dropping the whole thing on chutes. Try dropping 12 different modules and all their connectors on a VTOL that switches alignment axis midflight. FUN!! The only good thing is, if you wake up one day and you don't like how your base looks, you can rebuild it in a different configuration. Good for expansions too.

Rune. The link for mine is fixed, BTW. I forgot to write the actual url... ^^'

possibly... It just wasn't well thought out practically. I have to disconnect from the main ship, then remove a shoulder peice to ready the wing science module. Then (and keep in mind the only thing with RCS thrusters on it is the RCStug at the bottom of the home base) I get to rotate the home base 180 degrees around a nonlinear axis, then rotate90 degrees up and connect with the science wing. Then, repeat, only now you have a heavy science wing imbalancing it further. Would make a novice docker scream, but it did work fine for me.

Oh, that could be tricky if you don't take things slow and careful, yes. You could try something like my Klaw pods: cute little RCS drones with a crapton of reaction power and RCS subsystems. A pair of them can work as RCS system for pretty much any load if you place them at opposite ends.
