Sample Return Capsule

Mod by Spock and Tele

Have you ever wondered how to bring back to kerbin your precious science without building huge, unrealistic and expensive spaceships, that maybe can't land safely with deadly reentry?

Well, this is the mod you need! With our sample return capsules you can save all the data in the hard drives, then land them safely on kerbin thanks to the great reusable heatshields!

There are three different capsules of many sizes, each one will contain a greater amount of science.

Small: No data;

Medium: work in progress:

heavy: No data.

This doesn't collect data. I think this is meant to be a science container that's capable of reentry.

I think you should divide it into two or three parts, because if you want full science return on something like soil samples, you need to return two of them, and you can only have one of the same experiment data in a part.

I've been waiting for something like this. If you allow it to dock, and deorbit by itself that would be a bonus. So far I've been building little science return craft out of many tiny parts. If you could condense it into 3 parts, that would be great.

One part for control, and two containers. Inbuilt chutes would be nice too.

Is this still happening or not? Because I kinda want to do it myself.

If you do, and maybe this is insane - would it be possible to write some sort of magic code that says "when this thing hits Kerbin, take all the science in it and give it to the player" - or that sort of thing? So you don't necessarily have to micro-manage return capsules, you can just shoot them at Kerbin on a reasonable trajectory and have the game automate the rest?

Unless of course that's not really what you want to do! :)

But taking focus away from a thing in the atmosphere makes it disappear below 20km.

I am interested in seeing it being done. A small capsule that can be dropped from space, possibly act as a probe core at the same time, maybe with built in parachute. A one stop shop for sending science back to kerbin.

If im not mistaken, Doesnt the StageRecovery Mod already allow for this?

(recovering Science from things shot at kerbin, while not focused on them, provided they have a probe core, and have means of landing, chutes etc)

I didn't know. That's useful, however you still need a vehicle for it, and small lightweight one is still a good idea.
