[.90] RealHeat: Heat Transfer 101! [WIP]

I am so very thrilled to see someone modeling what was mentioned before in the DRE thread, the actual heat mechanics in general. I know it says that the ablative shields are in progress, so does that mean that the heat transference is currently done well enough that carefully-built reentry profiles would be alright without the ablative shields? If so, I may go ahead and replace my DRE install with this, but want to verify before I start frying capsules on re-entry in my career. Otherwise, I'd be concerned about the heat building up too fast for the 'shield' and thus causing spectacular failure.

In stock, you really can't get going fast enough to burn up on reentry. The difference between 2.2 km/s and 7.5 km/s is substantial. Eventually, I hope to include difficulty scaling for stock and 6.4x configs, but that's not in yet.

It isn't yet. Climate control may require some cross dependencies with TAC life support or something similar. I'll add it to the list.

Also, 0.90 compatible, make sure you get FAR .14.5

Can I use this mod and couple it to my KabinKraziness mod which has KlimateKontrol for crewable parts to transfer heat from other parts to the crewed parts?

What I've been looking for I think... I want to transfer heat from engines, etc to crewable parts which will impact the temperature of these parts. Which in turn I've implemented KlimateKontrol onto.

If I'm making sense? Need some coffee I think. :)

My only other concern is your note about NOT installing this AND DRE... would like to keep DRE in the mix as well....

Quite interesting and promising mod... And you declare it to be DR successor, right? So...

1) Will it burn/explode the overheated parts during inaccurate reentries like DR?

2) Will it be compatible with KSPI "waste heat" management mechanics?

3) Will there be a NEAR support along with FAR? DR is currently more fun to play with NEAR as FAR dampens speed too quickly and too high in atmosphere making reentries without heatshields viable.

4) How will it treat "thrust plate" parts with multiple (currently overheating) engines attached?
