Autorun???

Recommended Posts

The autorun button is a weight on W button. You will have to check it occasionally, though. My first Laythe landing was a one way trip and I landed in water. Determined to walk on the surface, I looked where the nearest land is and started swimming, I set some weights on the Shift and W keys and went to sleep. Several hours later I was swimming parallel to the coast line I had aimed for. Well, I made the kerbal swim in the right direction again and after about a total of 4-5h at 4x timewarp the kerbal made it to the shore. I guess the direction changing must have had something to do with the planet rotation or something.

Although if it's only 5km, then it probably won't have much of an effect, but you never know...

xrayfishx: I actually found the Kerbal animation's a bit derpy sometimes. It's quite possible the problem was accumulated floating point errors mostly in one direction :) (It's especially derpy at high time warp....)

Also, the cursor in your signature is a few pixels smaller than the windows 7 default :P

I haven't tried this for a few versions so I don't know if it still works. Anyway, alt-tab out of the game while holding W. The kerbal should just keep moving whether you're holding W or not, tabbed in or out of the game. The problem is getting him/her to stop again. You have to hold S to get her/him to hold still while you return to KSC, but that should return to normal control.

Appreciate this thread is already answered, but you could also use a mod like Time Control

A running Kerbal doesn't need much by way of physics calcs and doesn't suffer by turning them to 25% accuracy. I've had Jeb legging it at 22x speed between ground survey points (landed on the first point, but upside down) which was much more tolerable for what would otherwise have been a half-hour waddle :)
