Thank you Mods, it was driving me nuts

Thank you mods for removing the adds from the forum. No thanks to that google add redirect to lemode-mgz.com. It was starting to drive me nuts anytime I tried to load a thread on KSP.

Oddly enough, Google Chrome was unaffected. But anyways, I can now browse without having to try and perfectly time the stop button.

I can live with ads that appear somewhere as a banner and are unobtrusive: not flashy-flashy, no sound, no pop-up or dreaded pop-under, do not scroll with the site I am visiting and do not paste themselves over the page.

The pity for google is, that they kept advertising stuff I was looking at on e.g. amazon before and so already knew about.

i started blocking ads when they started making noise and running fancy graphics, animations, and blocking the content you were trying to look at. it got to the point where the ad was bigger (in both file size and appearance) than the page you were looking at, you look at your internet bill and wondered where your transfer quota was going. ads used to be these small little gif files of a few k, but when they started pushing annoying 5mb ads and costing people money they blew it. then they started poking holes in your security.

its actually a shame because a lot of smaller web communities are supported entirely by ads and donations. a few obnoxious ads ruined it for everyone.

I've been running Adblock Plus on Firefox for years now. If you guys had not started yapping about those weird ads I would have never known.

Same here. But my blocking tactics are way more severe:

-Adblock Micro

-Ghostery

-AdMuncher

-A huge hosts file with ad addresses set to localhost, so they fail to load, since everything has to pass by the host file. Since the blocking is on operating system level, scripts that detect adblock usage can't see it.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
