Revert to 1x Time Warp button.

Recommended Posts

It could be made so that the button goes from level X timewarp to level 1 timewarp sequentially. It'd be less work than tapping the lower timewarp button repeatedly and maybe even save a second or so. That would already be a great help.

Maybe "Alt"+"," (or < if you think of it that way). While they're at it, I wouldn't mind an "Alt"+"." to go to max available warp.

Edit: I am an idiot. Alt+ the warp keys is for physics warp, so Alt+. wouldn't work. Though Alt+, would still work in physics or normal warp.

The issue is that it still takes time to scale from full warp to zero, even if tapping the ',' key. At high warp, that's what takes most of the time. I'm actually not sure *why* it'd be an issue snapping to 0; AFAIK, the way rails warp works is that KSP does no physics at all. In an orbit around one body, there's a closed-form expression for your location at a particular time, so all timewarp does is add some larger amount to the time each increment (this doesn't cause issues because no forces are being simulated and the orbit doesn't change, so floating-point errors have minimal effect). If that's how it's done, I don't see why dt can't go from 1000000 in one step to 1 in the next.

The Warp-To button should help in the next version.

However, I consider things like messing up SOI changes and missing the atmosphere / crashing into the planet to be bugs with the current implementation, and it's those things that really ought to be fixed.

You can indeed jump directly to one of the warp settings by clicking on the green triangles of the warp indicator. It did used to sometimes cause problems, but for that reason, it's been so long since I tried it that I don't recall what kind of problems it caused. Nor do I know if it still does.

So, um, yeah. There's that bit of semi-information for your consideration.
