The ARES-1 Is a launcher based on the Space Shuttle's SRB as a first stage. This craft is a 1:1 Scale - it doesn't even fit in the VAB!

I Will work on a Crew version of this soon, as it was designed to carry an Orion to orbit.

INSTRUCTIONS:

-Pull ship down in VAB and replace ballast in fairings with Payload, then put back into place when ready to launch.

-Watch Navball on launch, only release from base when the ship is moving upward (it bounces)

-Throttle down at first stage cutoff, stage, then slowly throttle up

-Stage fairings before orbit, they tend to scatter lots of debris

-Max Payload 60 tons to LKO (due to first stage TWR constraints, working on that)

Haha, thanks. I wanted to make it RSS capable but the parts are just too big and the SRB is unable to carry that much fuel to orbit.

It's not horrible - i think 400. As for the fairing, I'll have to work on that I know, it's a mock up for now. I plan on making a full size orion capsule to put in its place.
