And what's wrong with gaming on a Mac? Granted, mine is a crap rig, but some are very nice. Though I consider myself a PC person.

Build her a heart-shaped space station, and launch it in one go!

Poor selection. There's many indie games I want to introduce her to, and almost all of them are not Mac compliant. KSP will be one, of course!

If it's a more recent mac with a decent cpu, gpu, ssd, minimum 8 GB of RAM, and a modern set of I/O, it should work just as well if not better than a PC when you install windows through bootcamp.

Not too sure of the details of her machine. She plays a little WoW, so it's at that level at least. I figure it'd be a silly move to barge in and start modding her machine just a date or two in, though. :)

That's perfect, so cool that she has some similar interests.

As for a second job, have you ever considered becoming an evil genius?

You seem to have the necessary whacky doomsday device skills and it pays well I believe :D

I gave it a try once.

You can have an underground lair, you can have all minions you need, but you still need to wait before you cut metal. I learned the hard way. I still have fifty kilos of isotope halfnium-176 that'll do me no good. WAIT for the community to verify results, people! The paper might have published in a reputable peer-reviewed journal, but the peer review process continues!

congratulation on your new girlfriend and your looming promotion!

And welcome back!

Much appreciated! :D

My new date is a big fan of "My Little Pony". While I remember that from the time of my sister growing up, while we were still kids, and vaguely aware of the fandom out there, I wasn't particularly aware of it. So, just so I can say I at least read from the same page in her favorite book, I watched the first two episodes of season one.

Very curious. It seems like they completely and utterly rebranded it. And I have to admit, I wasn't expecting anything other than soul-saturating saccharine sweetness that made my bones rot away. That's there, but not in overdose amounts, but what surprised me is that there's an actual plot to it. Moral lessons. A point. Well, might as well queue up episode three.

Hell of a thing. Here I am, thirty-something, watching My Little Pony. Even starting to get some of the references I've seen made by fans. And I'm not having an altogether bad time watching it. Hrm.

I messaged her (she's at office, I am not) and said that if I had had a daughter, I'd want her to watch this show. Then I thought about it some more. Why not the boys? They can take those same lessons. And it would be interesting, from a socialogical standpoint, if the two genders of one generation had something fun in common in the earlier years, where there is usually a very harsh division. It'll be interesting to see what comes of it.

And now I understand that her messanger icon is Rainbow Dash.

Guru Laghima would also like to point out the Avatar fandom. :)

Not to mention some dictators.

BTW, welcome back! Once you take her out for dinner at a nice establishment, you should try to install windows through bootcamp on her rig. The process is almost risk free and automated.

For my Birthday, she bought me a Rubik's Cube. I had mentioned some time ago that I'd had one, but accidentally broke it because it's small and hard to hold with two hands.

As a thank you countergift, I've got incoming the following:

Her birthday is likewise coming up... getting something special made. You'll see.

Ok, so part two. Here's the birthday gift I'm working on. We've already established she likes ponies. So, I've hired a pair of artists. Artist one, ECMonkey, has already started the prototyping stage, and has sent sketches for feedback. Here's a couple.

Artist two, LuminosityXVII, is the second artist, and he's doing something more complex. So his preliminaries will take longer.

All in all, I'm hoping her birthday gift will be 20% cooler than usual. ^^

Whackjob, a MLP fan? I thought that the Devil would have icicles on his... well, I thought it would never happen. :D

With all due seriousness, Whackjob, I'm incredibly happy for you. Congratulations.

(Although, you may well want to teach her about KSP before you get sucked too deeply into My Little Pony. Keep in mind, it's important to meet her at the middle, rather than becoming a fan of everything she likes. So, even though it's good to give her a MLP gift every once in a while, just be sure to be yourself in the process.)

On a related note, every single girlfriend I have has liked My Little Pony, and while I don't consider myself a "brony" in the slightest, I know my way around the show. So you're not the only one, Whackjob. :)

Wow. Just wow. No offense, but I despise the MLP-Kerbal crossover stuff you are posting. That is cancerous and I would not date anyone that watches that horrendous stuff. MLP is the cutoff point for me.

Watch it once. That's all I'll say. It's not the vacuous garbage we suspected it was. The biggest challenge, I think, is not feeling one's manliness is somehow threatened.

#EDIT: Her Pinkie Pie mug gift arrived today. Going to office in 30 minutes; She's in today. Can't wait to surprise her with it.

Indeed, it really isn't the manhood-stripping show that many make it out to be. Voice of experience here.

I don't watch it on a regular basis, heck, I really don't watch it at all, but I've a few bits and pieces here and there.

Good luck, Whackjob. May your love be as big as your rockets. :)
